Founders Club of Pawleys Island
Played On 10/17/2017Where's Waldo?
Going from hole to hole on this course was like playing Where’s Waldo in a golf cart! The group in front of us completely missed #16! It is very poorly marked and having to cross roads 14+ times made it confusing to say the least. Golf wise, the greens were fast & good, and the staff was great. The rest? Not so hot. The fairways were 50-50 weeds to grass, and the women’s tee boxes were terrible.
Williamsburg National Golf Club - Yorktown Course
Played On 08/30/2017A very, VERY nice course…BUT
If it weren’t for the greens, this course would be a 4+ star facility. There is not lot of water to contend with, but what there is, is well applied. The fairways are in good shape, and the Tee boxes for the most part are fine. The is a plethora of traps/bunkers – and they’re well positioned as far as my game is concerned. The greens are very bad, but they are working on getting them back in shape.
NMU Golf Course
Played On 08/09/2017Nice course
A nice course. Not difficult, with water on only one par 3, as I remember and only 5800 yards from the “regular” tees. The greens and fairways were in excellent shape. And If I lived in the UP, I would play it often. Try it – you’ll like it.
Oaks Course at Stonegate Golf Club
Played On 02/17/2017Nice Course
This course is a good afternoon of golf. The layout is very nice with a scenic tour nature between holes. The course is in good shape for this time of year. The greens were very good with minimal bad spots. As a matter of fact, the only defects are the sod patched areas around the bunkers, which I understand are part of a redesign. They’re almost grown in and will be fine in a few weeks. The fairways are fairly open - but well trapped. There are few forced carries, and most of the water is lateral. The bunkers are very well maintained. The staff was pleasant and eager to please. Try this course - you’ll like it
Royal St. Cloud Golf Links - Red/White Course
Played On 02/15/2017Wonderful course
My wife and I found this course fun to play! It is a links style course, although there are not too many forced carries on the Red & White Courses. The greens were large and undulating aka tricky. The fairways are wide open BUT the traps are well located, so beware. The fairways were in fantastic shape as were the greens. My wife can’t wait to play it again. The amenities were very good and the staff was very friendly. All in all, a very nice day golfing.
Ventura Country Club
Played On 02/11/2017Good Course!
Although it is a short course it has a nice layout, and is in good shape including the greens. Most fairways were open with a normal amount of water hazards. The traps were well manicured, and the staff was very accommodating. A great value too. We will definitely be back!
East at Grenelefe Golf & Tennis Resort
Played On 02/05/2017Bad Greens, everything else was OK
The course has a very nice layout, and is very, very scenic. Not a hard course at all, with open fairways, not much water to worry about, and few and minor carries to get over. The problems arise once you hit the greens. They are some of the worst I’ve ever played on. Only one or two had an actual grass carpet. The rest of the greens had a crust with bare spots, sand, and the worst - scabs of dead grass you were supposed to putt over! The fairways had some crabgrass but you can forgive that. The tee boxes were so-so - some good and some not. We played on a Sunday afternoon and it was not crowded - I know why…
North Shore Golf Course
Played On 02/03/2017Nice Course
A very enjoyable course. It’s relatively short (5835 from senior tees), and not difficult, which translates to an enjoyable time. The course was in normal shape for this time of year - the fairways were good, the tee boxes were OK, and a few greens had some bad spots. A good value for the money - and fun to play.
Remington Golf Club
Played On 02/01/2017Just OK
Nothing special over all. The staff was very friendly. The course was not difficult. There was a fair amount of crab grass in the first but or rough, but the fairway itself was good for the most part. The greens were just so-so, with the ones in rough shape painted green to hide the burst /bare spots. The tee boxes were OK, with some good and some bad. There were no rakes in any bunker that we saw for all 18 holes - NONE. There’s a decent amount of lateral water to consider, but where there’s no lateral water, the fairways were wide open.
Kissimmee Bay Country Club
Played On 01/16/2017Very Good Course
My wife and I played this course for the first time and really enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The course layout was good - not too tough. There was a decent amount of water but nothing to dwell on. Fairways were pretty good, the greens were good - just a lot slower than we were used to, but they rolled true - just slower. The greens are well protected - by bunkers! Oh my the bunkers - which were all raked by the way. A fun course to play for the price - we will return many times.
Oaks National Golf Club
Played On 01/06/2017Perfect Greens
This is a tough course. It can be a very humbling experience - but it is a great challenge to play. The front nine has lots of water, and on 2-3 holes there are double water carries. There are conservation area carries that can be taxing as well. The back nine has much less water, but a lot more trees.
Club selection is very important on most holes, and you cannot just grip it and rip it from the tees. There are some loooong par-3’s (210 yards from the white tees). I’ve never played on greens this good! 17 of 18 greens on this course were perfect. The staff was great, friendly, helpful and eager to please. A great value!

Played On 01/04/2017So - So
The course is just OK. The layout is not very challenging with minimal doglegs or grade changes. There were good sized crab grass patches in some fairways. The greens were in pretty good shape. Water hazards were not a big problem, except where lateral water hazards were not marked, causing a surprise when you got to your drive - or where it should have been… On a sour note, the starter allowed a twosome to start the back nine right in front of us, causing a 5-10 minute delay on each hole on the second nine, yet there were two to three holes open behind us.
Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation

Nice layout. Fairways were in good shape., Some greens were thin, but most were good. Staff was friendly, and my wife and I enjoyed playing here. We will be back
Duck Creek Golf Course
Played On 06/24/2016So-So
The course was just not worth it. Some holes were like golfing in a cow pasture, some were very interesting. The fairway grass - all of it - was terrible. Most times I couldn’t tell where the fairway ended and the ‘rough” began. The greens were in very good condition however. The staff was very friendly. Would I play there again? If I lived next door - and it was free.
Colonial Heritage Club
Played On 06/02/2016Great, challenging course
My wife and I played this beautiful and challenging course and it was in perfect condition from tees to fairways to greens. The layout is beautiful with scenic rides between holes. Quite hilly and undulating which heightened the challenge. Quite a few forced carries to contend with. The staff is very friendly and helpful from the Pro Shop to Starter to the grounds crew. Will definitely play again

A very nice course in excellent condition. The layout was interesting and shot placement was critical quite often. Quite hilly, but that just made the holes more interesting.

What an outstanding layout! - which is quite hilly. The par 3's are scenic, the numerous hills add a lot of visual pleasure to the course, and the layout is such that you just can't grip it & rip it. A few of the greens was patched and scarred, which is what kept me from giving it a 5 star rating. A good value and well worth playing.
Lakeside Golf Course
Played On 02/02/2016Not worth it
My wife & I were disappointed in this course. While it has WIDE open fairways - they were terribly burnt out. They were so bad they had been painted green. The tee boxes were terribly chewed up, but the greens were OK. There were few blind tee shots, but with the fairways so wide open it didn't hurt much. The layout was mundane with only 2 holes challenging (#4 and #15). The pace of play was good, as there few golfers on the course on noon on a Tuesday. Overall there are lot better courses nearby that are worth playing.
Citrus Hills Golf & Country Club - Meadows Course
Played On 01/26/2016Just So-So
There are few "hard" holes on this course, and the layout is pretty good. There are several tight fairways. But, there are several negatives that stand out. First the greens are terrible, with only 2 -3 in good shape - bald spots outnumber grassy spots, some are cut some aren't. Most fairways are in poor shape as well. Small things bugged me like NO rakes in any sand trap, no sand on the carts to fill in divots, only 2 ball washing stations on the course on #9 & #18, no starter, and no ranger to monitor pace of play. Other than that is was just OK.
Crystal River Golf Club
Played On 01/16/2016Nice Course
The course is not too difficult. It's level with few forced carries to worry about; not too much water to bother you. Good layout and condition. The greens were very fast and subtly deceptive. I liked the course a lot.
You must be reviewing a different course. The Oaks National has plenty of water and is not an easy course.
