Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 05/23/2018A gem
Considering the recent rainfall, the course was in very good shape. A fantastic 36 holes, always a pleasure to visit and well worth the effort to travel that bit further, it is worth it.
My travel companion was made welcome and we enjoyed a nice meal in the clubhouse.
Solo return visit
Returned solo to use my ‘group golfer’ voucher. First visit with my wife, they wanted to charge $15 for ‘ride fee’ which we declined to pay. My second visit only lasted 10 holes due to ‘lightning’ but I had seen enough in that time to come to the opinion that the course was a ‘mess’. The greens were OK although slow pace, but some of the tees and most of the fairways were in a very sparse condition.
Deltona Club
Played On 05/04/2018Wasted trip
On holiday from U.K. with my wife. My wife accompanies me to the golf and I reciprocate by going shopping. Travelled 60 miles for a ‘hot deal’ $12 + tax etc to play Deltona. When booking in I was being charged $1 a hole ($18) ‘rider fee’ for my wife, which I declined to pay. Over the years, we have visited some outstanding, first rate golf clubs and been made very welcome without any add on fees, unfortunately Deltona does not extend a welcome without a charge. I have played the course with a friend several years ago and I can confirm Deltona is not a first rate golf course either. If you are thinking of bringing a partner for a day out golfing, enjoying a meal in the clubhouse etc Deltona should not be on your list.
Waldorf Astoria Golf Club
Played On 04/22/2017Good quality course
Pace of play was far too slow, waited nearly every shot for 18 holes. I was not in a desperate hurry and it was a nice day, but what should have been an enjoyable experience became a drag.
Obviously a quality product, facilities of a high standard but would I rush back, I don't think so.
Deltona Club
Played On 04/19/2017Enjoyable
Fancied this course for a while and eventually made the trip. The website and photos always looked impressive but I was a wee bit underwhelmed with the course. I had an enjoyable round but the course is just a bit untidy although I believe there has been a bit of a drought recently which maybe hasn't helped the greens staff.
Overall a pass mark for an enjoyable experience.
Rolling Oaks at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 04/16/2017Love this place
Played Pine Barrens a few times but jumped at the chance to play Rolling Oaks for the first time. Played at 1.30pm on my own and hardly seen anyone else all day. Course in great condition, although I played 'winter rules' and preferred my lies etc but apart from off the fairway in scrubb areas, fairways were very good. Pine Barrens has the edge with some extra special holes but for a confidence boosting round Rolling Oaks fitted the bill, nothing too testing.
The Club at Eaglebrooke
Played On 11/12/2015Return Visit
Played as a group of 8 on Holiday from Scotland. Overall package of Clubhouse, golf course, practice facilities are excellent. Plenty of challenging holes which you can make as difficult as you like with several Tees to choose from and carries which you can either 'take on' or take an easier, safer route.
We appreciate your high remarks of the facility and we're glad you decided to return and play with us again. We hope you'll visit us again soon!
Falcon's Fire Golf Club
Played On 5/18/2013Slow
Good tourist track, in good condition and a nice day out, but we played at a quieter time and it was still very slow. Played a dozen rounds of golf this holiday and this was by far the slowest pace.
Oaks Course at Stonegate Golf Club
Played On 5/17/2013Most Enjoyable
Had a most enjoyable afternoon at the 'Oaks' course. The tees, fairways and greens were all in excellent condition and the course was visually stunning and a decent degree of difficulty to make you concentrate. This seems to be part of a retired persons complex and they are lucky old golfers to have this on their doorstep. We ate here as well and the food and coffee were very good. This course will be top of my list on a return visit.
Diamondback Golf Club
Played On 5/16/2013A must play
Unfortunately the greens and tees were being worked on, which seems to be a common theme at this time of year, but the trade off is the cheaper green fees and a quieter course. This is a fantastic golf course, no houses just pure golf heaven. There are no 'airs and graces' to this golf club, no 5* luxuries for the jet set, but what they have is a gem of a golf course. I have played this course a good few times and play from the back tees 'tips' there is no better challenging holes to start a round than Diamondback, if you still have a scorecard going after 3 holes you are doing well. If you play this course, take the challenge and play the first 2 holes at least from the back, you may want to play used balls. I will be back on future holidays.
Dubsdread Golf Course
Played On 5/15/2013A Pleasure
Played early pm and no hold ups throughout the round. Having played numerous courses designed for the holiday golfer, this course is a proper golf course. There are houses, but they border the golf course and I think they add to the quaint look of an old 'Florida town'. I would not hesitate to revisit this extremely pleasant golf club.
ChampionsGate Golf Club - National
Played On 5/15/2013Tourist friendly
Had a fantastic day, sun shone, course quiet pm and course was in very good condition. The only down side to an otherwise perfect day was the actual course design, there is so much space that seriously bad shots were still in play, I found it difficult to find any trouble, never mind losing a ball. Some of the wayward shots I hit you would expect to be penalised, but apart from some bunkers there wasn't much else to worry about. Having said that, this is a quality set up, and the staff were first class.
Shingle Creek Golf Club
Played On 5/11/2013Special treat
I was not disappointed with the quality of this resort course. Well maintained although the greens were not perfect. Visually pleasing to the eye and enough space to allow the driver to come out.
Mystic Dunes Golf Club
Played On 5/10/2013Enjoyed
Unfortunately, picked a day and time during a very large 'tournament' and a time of year where courses are coring greens. Apart from that I found the course to be of a very good standard and visually very pleasing. I hope to play again at a quieter period before the end of my holiday
In it's best condition, this course would be 5*
In case you are unaware, the course receives no money from a "hot deal" booking. How do you think they pay their bills? Why would you expect a course to entertain you for free? Next time, skip the hot deal and pay your green fees to the course. If you don't, it won't be long before all we have are $100+ green fees at resort courses.
