Whirlpool Golf Course
Played On 10/06/2023A Fave Stanley Thompson Track
Awesome day on an awesome track. A pleasure to play this Stanley Thompson track. A visit with the local deer community was a precious added bonus.
Whirlpool Golf Course
Played On 09/11/2023Stanley Thompson continues to impress…
Whirlpool is a timeless design track. The conditions were pristine. We played with a twosome from Korea and these ladies were wonderful company. Al and I enjoyed our day to the max.
Rolling Meadows Golf and Country Club
Played On 08/14/2023Out There Experience
No stranger to Rolling Meadows. Was in great shape and I always have enjoyed the variety of holes in this layout. Excellent country course experience of being "out there."
Bridgewater Country Club
Played On 10/16/2018Our fave track!
This track is so worth the drive from St Catharines. A must play every season. Traditional design and greens that will leave you shaking your head for the putts left out there. Cya next season!!!!!
Legends on the Niagara Golf Course - Battlefield
Played On 10/10/2018Great Conditioned Track
Cart path only - dreaded instruction. We managed a wonderful day. Great track conditioned well. Will return fore sure!
Ford's Colony Country Club - Blackheath Course
Played On 05/01/2018First Class Presentation
We played Blackheathe. Stunningly beautiful. The water influence is calming, not intimidating. We enjoyed everything about this well conditioned 'out there' experience. This is a must play when in Williamsburg.
Colonial Heritage Club
Played On 04/30/2018A must play track
Everything first class here. Presentation, greeting, hospitality, course layout, difficulty and condition. Beautiful and difficult track that was enjoyed by all of us. A must play when in Williamsburg.
Kiskiack Golf Club
Played On 04/29/2018Unfit to play
Booked this round on GN hot deal for $37. I would rather have played elsewhere at full pop. This track was in such poor condition it was I cart path only. They used the term "so it would heal quicker". The starter tried to rush us off the driving range which really bothered us. We had just driven 11 hours from Canada and this was our first round and we just dropped $30 in the club house on lunch and paid for range balls and he wants us to tee off before our tee time. Then, when we collect at the starters house a 'member' sitting on the deck whistles at us like dogs to get out of the way of some opposing carts just coming off the course. Miserable start to say the least to an otherwise fantastic vacay in Williamsburg. The course was I'd say 60% either winter kill or dried out. Great layout - poor presentation.
Rockway Vineyards Golf Course
Played On 11/03/2017Plugged at Rockway
Unfortunately we plated here the day after 24 hours of moderate rain. It made for a very very tough day. The weather was great, the company was great, but this track is lacking an efficient draining system. I'm totally surprised they allowed carts out there. This is a great 'out there' challenging track that we have played fore years. Always in great condition and staff is friendly there. I hope this isn't my last round of the season in the wetest conditions ever!
Grand Niagara Golf Club - The Rees Jones Course
Played On 10/23/2017Grand Niagara - pristene
Niagara is a golf mecca. I've played every track out there. Of all the public access tracks available to the avid golfer, Grand Niagara comes in at the top of the pecking order at all levels of assessment. This course is immaculate. The greens are the truest anywhere that I've played. The superintendent has maintained this facility with admiring eyes and skillful hands. The starter and marshalling staff as well as the Pro Shop staff are friendly and welcoming. GN is a must play even fore the week-end warrior.
Old South Golf Links
Played On 04/14/2017Old South - Lush and 'out there'
Save the best for last is cliche but works here fore us. Old South was lush and a welcomed non golf community setting, save a few homes on the back 9. This is what I refer to as an "out there" experience. No condos, no traffic, no schools, no community. Just get out there and enjoy the pristine conditions. Our only complaint was that the greens, although in good condition, were extremely slow in comparison to the previous tracks played on Hilton Head Island proper.
We enjoyed our day with this well designed and welcoming track
Hi "u00000576841" Thanks for the great review. We are so glad you were able to save the best course on the Island for last. We appreciate the kind words and hope to see you again next year.
Bear Creek Golf Club
Played On 04/13/2017Well manicured track
We enjoyed ourselves. A beauty of a track. Taken care of. You can tell they are proud of their course. A typical golf community track The greens were, as were the others in that same area, hard and fast. Well worth the money.
Oyster Reef Golf Course
Played On 04/12/2017Awesome Track
The greens were slick and hard and probably running 12 on the stimp meter. A beautiful layout that required some shot making. The course was in need of water however. It didn't compare to the lushness of Old South. But the greens were better at Oyster Reef. The staff was friendly and I would return here the next time I visit Hilton Head.
Thank you for your feedback.
We look forward to having you in the future.
Arthur Hills at Palmetto Hall Plantation
Played On 04/10/2017Well designed track
Albeit a tad dry, this track was an enjoyable experience with one of the best finishing holes in H.H. A fantastic lay out and a more 'out there' experience than most golf community designs. The greens were hard and fast and rolling true. Another Arther Hills design that I strongly recommend.
Grand Niagara Golf Club - The Rees Jones Course
Played On 06/22/2015World Class Presentation is Grand Niagara
We teed off first at 7:45 am after hitting a few balls. The first thing I felt was that we were on a golf vacation. This is a first class set up. The cart staff were friendly and informative to start our experience. Once we got onto the track we enjoyed PGA Tour conditions. This course is impeccably manicured. The layout provides for resort styled wide open fairways with visual landing areas and then well protected undulating greens. Neither of us played very well, however, our enjoyment of this course is testament to Grand Niagara's world class presentation.
Beechwood Golf & Social House
Played On 06/14/2015"it's blowing over..."
Beechwood is terrific value for the golf dollar. Have been playing this course for years. It's a wonderful "out there" experience. Unfortunately we got the front 9 in basically unscathed by weather and then these were the common in jest phrases uttered by the group: "it's blowing over" - "yup just passing through" - "look see there's a break in the sky" - on the 17th hole a Marshall came over on a cart just to check in on our health and status. Everyone had left the course and club house facilities and we apparently were the only ones keeping the last club house soldier standing. He accepted our commitment with a smile and a shaking head...
Willodell Golf Club of Niagara
Played On 08/29/2014Traditional track of parkland beauty
I have been playing this course fore years. It remains one of my favourite "go-to" tracks. The greens are of the best in Niagara - always have been. The course is wonderfully manicured. It is an enjoyable round in a park land environment albeit ridden with 'tourists' who tend to slow the round down to waiting on almost every hole on the back 9. It's a good thing I'm not in a hurry to get off a beautiful golf course as Willowdell...
Mystic Golf Club
Played On 08/26/2014It's an "out there" experience
I've played Mystic since its inaugural year. It was designed by Jack Nicklaus' lead designer Tom Pearson. It was designed to host an Open. So that says something about its difficulty rating. While Mystic takes a bad rap by the wend warrior of hack and wack skills, for its challenging design, it should at least be embraced for its 'mystical' experience of "out there" proportion. From the moment you step onto the first tee, there is nothing but a well manicured golf environment to stroke your ego 'fore' the next 4.5 hours. I am never in a hurry to leave a golf course course - this one especially! What a pristine environment. What a magnificent design incorporated into the natural landscape. I shot at least 10 strokes over my ambiguous handicap and thoroughly enjoyed my day of golf with my buddies. Can't wait fore my next out there experience at Mystic!
Rockway Vineyards Golf Course
Played On 08/06/2014Out There Experience
Rockway is a gem of a track. It's a quality 'out there' experience. No condos, homes, businesses or byways and byways. Just sprawling vineyards and the escarpment as a back drop. Great day following the Canadian Junior Tourney, albeit the pace was very slow. It's a good thing none of us were in a hurry to get off the course!
Royal Niagara Golf Club - Escarpment Course
Played On 06/13/2014Royal Niagara Re-Visited
After a few years absence from playing Royal Niagara, I recently moved in to St. Catharines and decided to play my first round in almost 9 months (due to rotator cuff injury and surgery) at Royal Niagara. This course proved to be the comeback track of Niagara. It is a fantastic 'out there' experience. The course is well manicured and the greens are now in very respectable condition. I am hosting a men's day in a few weeks and will present this track to my playing buddies. Actually, I would join this course, I was that impressed.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the course. See you again soon
