Quail Dunes Golf Course
Played On 06/25/2020Fun Course just off I-76
My girlfriend and I took a 90 minute drive out to Fort Morgan to play Quail Dunes, a course I've not played since high school (85). The course has two distinct nine's. a parkland style front nine and a more wide open back nine. Quail Dunes is in great shape, the rough is thick but playable and the greens are a little fuzzy (which I understand as if you cut the greens to low they might brown out in the heat of summer). Oh, and another awesome thing about the greens. Since you're not allowed to touch the flag stick Quail Dunes uses the Golf Ball E Z Lyft system. It's the best covid-19 putting system out there and I wish more courses used it instead of pool foam or an inverted cup. With the E Z Lyft the ball falls to the bottom then you wimply use the putter to lift up the handle and the ball comes out. Quail Dunes is worth the drive out to Fort Morgan!!

Course conditions are not great. Dried out fairways with bare dirt in spots. Weeds growing in the fairways and so many pitch marks on some of the greens it tough to putt. It's a course that is fine for a beginner or high handicap.

Played here on Father's Day and the wind blew a good 30 MPH. This is by far one of the best designed courses I've ever played and I've played a few of Jack's courses before. Strategically placed bunkers off the tee and greens that if you're not in the right level or location you are looking at a 3 putt. From the 1st tee to the 18th green you'll need to really think your way around this course...no grip it and rip it for sure. Can't wait to go back and play here on a calm day!
