Remington Parkview Golf and Country Club - Upper
Played On 10/05/2022Parkview Upper, good for a Twilight round
Had not played it much in the past dozen years, but given the convenient location, course conditions and fair price, I will play here more often. Now if they could lose a few of the hydro wires and have a bridge over or under the railway tracks, that would be very much appreciated . We did haveto wait about 5 minutes for a train to pass when going from the 2nd to the 3rd. Very enjoyable round.
Royal Stouffville Golf Course
Played On 09/20/2022Much improved Royal Stouffville
I have played Royal Stouffville a few times per year most years since 1984. I must say that the course is now in the best condition I have seen it in many years. Fairways, most greens and tees are are in very good condition. The marsh areas are more tidy than before and the cart paths are much improved, even for a walker like myself. Green speeds were much quicker thank I have seen there in quite some time. Pin positions were very challenging for thr most part on this day. As this was my 1st round here this year, I will return before the year ends. Staff were all quite friendly and I was able to complete all 18 at twilight in 2.5 hours walking. Mind you this is not the best course for a twilight round as the first 5 holes are all pointed west into the setting sun in mid to late September.
Mill Run Golf Club - Championship Grist/Wheel Course
Played On 06/12/2021Mill Run. Take a cart.
Played on a Saturday afternoon in June. Played Grind and Grist nines. If you are playing the Grind, you really will require a cart as there are 3 long distance hikes between holes.
Played in 5 hours which is about 30-45 min longer than most courses.
Fairways and tees were fine. Greens could have used a haircut.
Overall it is a very good and challenging course.
Bear's Best Las Vegas
Played On 12/22/2017Beautiful Bear 's Best
I really enjoyed my round on Dec 22nd.
Greens, tees and fairways were in great shape. The bunkers however were quite difficult to hit from , as in not much top layer of sand and therefore very easy to skull it across the green, into another bunker or worse. Course starts with 2 of the most challenging holes, and then it is quite fair. Very scenic, particularly on the back nine, and many dream homes line the fairways. The cart girl was friendly, but we did not see her too often. Rentals were TM M2's and were in good condition
Seminole Lake Country Club
Played On 3/1/2013Very good greens, well maintained, fair test of golf
Played on 3/1/2013. I really liked the greens and the fairways were in very good condition. A few ground under repair areas, but not too bad. The bunkers were in excellent condition as well. The lunch which we received from the cart girl consisted of a fresh sandwich (chicken salad in my case), pop, & chips. We used the driving range as well prior to the round. The power cart did its job well. Given that there are a few hikes between holes, it came in handy on an otherwise very walkable course. the sprinkler heads also had yardages. A very good course with water hazzards providing most of the challenge.
BraeBen Golf Course - Championship
Played On 8/4/2012Braeben - very good course; decent value; like being in a helicopter
I have played Braeben a about 4 times in the past, going back as far as 2005. It is still quite a unique course, given that it is built on a landfil and being surrounded by suburbia. Hole designs are quite good on the front nine, and the par-3 7th is a really interesting hole, given that it is quite different from the rest of the links-y course. The odd 15th, formerly the course's 18th is quite unique with its dramatic drop from fairway to the green. Not as much thescue as they used to as I am sure it used to beat up the casual golfers or beginners who played there in the past. I am sure it has helped pace of play. Overall, a very good public course.
