Good course gone bad

in the last week
After playing Masonboro CC many times over the years I was extremely disappointed in the conditions the last time I played. Many of the greens had dead spots, fairways with little grass to hit off and bunkers with more grass than sand. They didn't even pretend to seem to care about the course and looks like they have given up on it. When Masonboro was bought by a new owner he put a ton of money into it and made it one of the best in the area. Doesn't look like he has any interest in keeping it that way.

Nice local course but NOT nice local rates

I have enjoyed playing this course and it is nice to have another option in the Wilmington area. But, course is one I will only play a handful times a year because it is too overpriced for locals. It is my second favorite with Cape Fear National as my first choice. With the grand strand courses beginning just minutes away towards Myrtle Beach, there are as good (if not better) courses for half the price within 45 minutes drive. Kids sixteen and under can play for free at most of these courses, too. I have no problem driving right past Compass Pointe to save the money and play at a nice course that appreciates the locals.

Worst course ever played

Absolutely the worst course I have ever played. No identifiable fairway. I use a yellow ball so it is easy to spot and I had a tough time finding it because of all the yellow flowers covering the "fairway ". I could go on but it was so bad we left after nine holes.
