Forsgate Country Club - The Banks
Played On 06/26/2019Amazing Green Complexes
This course is all about the green complexes. Great conditioning throughout. Every green was a bit different but most were elevated on a pedestal with 10ft + of drop-off on some sides. A lot of template holes including a punchbowl, reverse redan, edan, horseshoe, biarritz and many others.
The only negative I would say about the course is 90% of the holes are straight away so it was driver straight all day.
Torrington Country Club
Played On 09/20/2016Many elevation changes to large undulating greens
We were the first group out on a Tuesday morning and the course was great. The greens look hairy but they roll fast. I did notice a difference in green speeds from hole to hole. The course is forgiving off the tee but really presents a challenge for your second shot. You are either hitting up or downhill most of the time to large greens that make it tough to get it tight.
Red/White at Little Mill Country Club
Played On 09/13/2016Great conditions
This course is amazing. Perfect green everywhere you look. A dual sided range is one of the best practice facilities in the area. The course has so many options with 5 sets of tees and 27 holes. This course runs through the woods of South Jersey so if you are hooking or slicing you will have a lot of punch outs. Some of the holes feel repetitive of long tree lined par 4s. The greens are fairly large but were surprisingly slow the last time I played here.
Ambassador at Hickory Valley Golf Club
Played On 06/19/2016Ambassador
We played the Ambassador course. It is a good course for beginners as it is not overly long and you certainly won't find many bunkers. A decent amount of doglegs will challenge the advanced golfers. We teed off a little after 2pm on a weekend. It is expected to be crowded so when nobody was in front of us, it was awesome. We flew through the front nine but then hit a wall on 11. It was at least 20 minutes a hole after that. I wouldn't want to know the pace in peak time.
Green Tree Golf Course
Played On 05/26/2016Great for beginners
This is a course that you can normally find a good value deal on. It works great if you or a member of your group are beginners. Many short par 4s to go with a par 6 which is definitely different. Conditions are what you pay for. Easily one of the cheaper courses near the south Jersey shore which is a plus.
Wedgwood Country Club
Played On 10/21/2015Average
This is a course I normally play a few times a year. I played in late Oct 2015 and the conditions were overall pretty good. Greens were the best condition I have ever seen at this course and they ran relatively fast. Fairways were decent but the tee boxes and rough were inconsistent. Two short iron and two long iron par 3s keep you honest. A few blind shots make it challenging for the first time player.
PGA WEST Pete Dye Mountain Course
Played On 10/12/2015Play specifically for the views
The views were stunning. If you have never been to the area, you have to check this out just for the views. It was the most scenic course I have ever played. The conditions weren't ideal but we can't hold it against them as we played just as they were getting ready for their overseeding. A decent amount of elevated greens make it tough for the average golfer.
Running Deer Golf Club
Played On 09/16/2015Worth the drive
What challenging greens. Very large and undulating so make sure you are on the right level if you want a makeable putt. The conditions of the fairways and greens were great but the tee boxes could use work around white tees. Fairway bunkers are placed very strategically around this course and make you think off the tee. If I am nit picking, I was not pleased with the par 5s. All four of the par 5s made it nearly impossible to reach in two as unless you can carry it 270+ you had to layup to specific positions. It would be nice for at least one of them to be a grip it and rip it hole.
Biloxi/Charleston at River Plantation Country Club
Played On 03/29/2015worth the drive
This course was a little further outside the city but is worth it especially with the deals on golfnow. The course was in great condition especially the greens. A lot of doglegs and tree lined fairways made this course somewhat challenging.
Southwyck Golf Club
Played On 03/28/2015good layout
This course has a solid layout with a good mixture of holes. Water comes into play on a lot holes with some forced carries. Only issue I had with the course is they allowed a fivesome to tee off. The starter said he didn't like it but there was nothing he could do.
Eagle Trace Country Club
Played On 10/05/2014TPC
First time playing this course and it was a nice experience. A few greens certainly needed attention and looked to be under repair but the ones that didn't were nice and quick. Forced carries on almost all the par 3s. The ball can be thick and usually settles down so it makes it difficult to hit a quality shot. The course lacked drinking water throughout and only saw the cart girl once.
Esplanade Golf and Country Club of Naples
Played On 10/02/2014Wide fairways
The course is in great shape with wide fairways and fast greens. Although there is water on some of the holes, much less than other area courses and a lot of bail out room on most holes. Play this course now before they raise their rates!
Vineyard National Golf Course
Played On 07/12/2014Great course
The course is out with nothing around it. Very open helps those of us that don't play a straight ball but still challenging for the good player. The greens roll true and fast which make you think on your approach shots.
White Oaks Country Club
Played On 07/09/2014Short course
Short course that doesn't allow you to use driver on many holes from the white tees. Conditions were solid and a great price from golf now made it totally worth it.
White/Red at Ramblewood Country Club
Played On 07/02/2014Average course
The course is overpriced at normal rates. The fairways and rough were beat up in places with several brown spots. Greens were just aerated and not communicated. The staff barely said a word to me and left it up to me on which sets of nine holes to play (as there are 3 nine hole courses). The good news was I played midday during the week and there was nobody out on the course. I remembered this course in better shape previous visits. I hope my most recent trip isn't a sign of more to come.
Player at Lyman Orchards Golf Club
Played On 06/28/2014Challenging for the first timer
I was lucky enough to get paid with twosome that have played the course before. There are many blind/positional shots on the players course. Conditions were great from tee to green. Next time I am in the area again, I look forward to challenging this course again and scoring a little better.
White Clay Creek Country Club at Delaware Park
Played On 06/25/2014Excellent conditions
This course is definitely a premier course in the area. The practice facility alone with complimentary range balls is a great start. When you get to the first tee, it only gets better. Very challenging greens to get used to but excellent conditions tee to green. Choose the right tees for your game because there are certainly some long carries and position golf on doglegs. Hopefully I can get back soon.
Ron Jaworski's Valleybrook Country Club
Played On 06/22/2014Slow course
This was my first time playing this course this year and it is in better shape than years past. Not a long course at all. Keep the ball straight, many times without driver and you will be in good shape. Major problem is the pace of play. Almost every time I play this course, it jams up. They overbook tee times and don't have a ranger or even a starter to keep things moving. I would certainly play this course more often (especially the solid twilight rates) if they just moved people along.
Cape May National Golf Club
Played On 05/28/2014Good shore track
Many challenging holes around/over water which created a scenic round. The course was in decent shape throughout from tee to green. The lady in the pro shop was not very professional and made us wait extremely long to be checked in. The starter really saved my impressions of the staff. He was great making sure we were familiar with some of the challenging holes as first time players. They didn't have a ranger out there moving thing along which created a long back nine.
Indian Spring Golf Club
Played On 05/24/2014Made improvements to a solid public course
The course was in better condition than I remembered from year's past. The fairways were well maintained and the rough was thick throughout. The greens were the opportunity as there are a lot of ball marks and other bumps in them. The non-resident rate with a cart is too high. If you can get something better than the advertised rate then it is worth it.
Great to hear how much you enjoyed the challenge of the course and the complimentary range balls. We do hope to see you back at White Clay Creek CC soon!
