I was the first on the course quite early on weather was poor with drizzle course was in great condition and because of the rain greens slow. 2 par 3s in the first few holes was interesting. As the course opened up into gentle hilly gorse laden fairways it started to get interesting a lot of thought went into the course design and it got tougher hole by hole thoroughly enjoyable round despite the weather. Well equipped pro shop with fantastic deals and very friendly

A lovely flat course with a burn (Valley) running through which you have to play across several times which in turn gives the course its difficulty. A very well laid out course with Excellent Greens and some long holes considering its location. I started playing at 6.30pm and the course was virtually empty.Great.

Whickham Golf Club - Crombie Course
Played On 03/29/2018Loved it. Tranquil and some stunning views
I played this course on a lovely frosty morning so until the course started to dry out the ball did not run as far but what a fantastic course to play. On arrival there was nobody around(all closed) so I started my round in total tranquillity. An uphill start leads to some quality first holes although it can be a little confusing as to where to go next once the greens had dried out I found they were very true and challenging. The rough was very generous with barely a blade of grass above 4 inches the course was generally in very good condition. Very hilly but well worth the visit although I wouldn't want to play on a windy North East day ! Would highly recommend
Only for practice
I had some spare time so played this course as a warm up as I have had no golf since last year basically its an iron only course so good for using the mid irons. It was a wet course as it was after the snow ball plugged a lot and greens had just been tined so a little rough. Its ok for beginners

I chose this course as a I was in the area and was aware I could get on straight away I expected to pay around £12 but ended up paying £19. was told this was a municipal course so expected it to be cheaper, considering the price there are better value/condition courses around to play.A nice first hole with an elevated tee leads to a fairly flat course with occasional uphill greens midway there are a few gentle uphill holes followed by several flat holes towards the end of the round finishing with a small hike to the 17th tee and an uphill finish to the 18th.Fairways were generous and generally gc, greens were good but slow, tee boxes ok. Changing rooms for members only, plenty free parking, good clubhouse with views, lots of wildlife including flocks of parrots

An enjoyable course starts with a very tight front 9 forget your driver as distances and ball placement are key from the 11th hole the course opens up and for big hitters becomes more enjoyable (and playable) despite being short this course is tricky, hilly and testing although I imagine single figure players would find it easy. fairways and green in good condition(some had been forked) although the course could not be described as immaculate but definatley good value for money.
had an excellent lunch here. Decent driving range small putting green
A fitting tribute on the 16th dedicated to an American WW2 airplane crashed nearby.
