Granite Ridge Golf Club - Cobalt
Played On 10/07/2017Course is in great shape
Had an enjoyable round at a great value because of a GolfNow Hot Round. The course was in fantastic shape. There are some tough holes here, and it helps to hit the ball straight because there are areas where the holes are close together. Lot of water to challenge you as well. The greens can be tough, with a lot of break to them, but still fun. A nice course. I am sure I'll play here again.
Deerfield Golf Course
Played On 09/30/2017Very nice course
It had been a number of years since I had played Deerfield and I"m glad I tried it again. We had a "Hot Deal" through GolfNow, and that made it a fantastic value for the money, even with having to pay for a cart separately. The regular prices seem a bit high, but I will definitely look to play here again with a deal.
The course is in very good shape. Fairways are fantastic, green and lush. I don't think we found a hard spot to hit off of, when we hit the fairways of course. Greens are large and fair to hit with a good shot. There is a good variety of length on the holes, giving you a chance to hit many different clubs.
A very enjoyable round for our group!
Granite Ridge Golf Club - Cobalt
Played On 07/03/2016Lack of Rain has hurt the course
Playing on a Sunday afternoon on a long weekend meant that the course was not too busy, so my wife and I were able to play 18 holes in less than 4 hours. Quite a treat to finish in less than 5 hours these days. The course layout is good, providing opportunities to use a variety of clubs and letting me choose between the "smart" play or going for it on a few occasions.
The primary issue for the course was the lack of rain which has really dried out the course. Many areas of fairways were brown, and if you were in the rough you often were hitting off of hard ground. The greens themselves were in relatively good shape still and ran true and fast.
I have always enjoyed playing at Granite Ridge and at the right price I would certainly visit again.
Royal Ontario Golf Club
Played On 08/01/2015Tough but fun challenge
The course is in fantastic shape. There is a nice variety to the holes, with differing distances and doglegs adding character to the course. I find the regular cost a bit high, but with a reduced rate through GolfNow is a fun round. Fairways can be a bit tight, so be prepared to lose a few balls if you don't hit it straight.
Tyandaga Golf Course
Played On 8/24/2013Great deal, but poor pace of play
The course itself is very well maintained. The greens are among the best I have played on, but are slippery fast. Even a light touch on a downhill put could go well past the hole, so they are very challenging.
There are many blind shots and tough lies due to the many hills, even if you hit it straight. Many holes are very narrow, as well, adding to the challenge. However, the course is not overly long, and it is possible to score well.
The disappointment today was with the pace of play. The course ran two shotgun starting times at 8:00am and 1:00pm. This should have been more than enough time to complete the round, but it took over 3 hours to play the first nine holes, and well over 5 hours for the entire rounds. There was no management of the pace by the marshals.
The other disappointment occurred when finishing the round and returning to the pro shop. Upon arrival at the same time as another group, an employee asked the person if their car was nearby and if they could leave the cart immediately as they had people waiting for a cart. After the long day, the person responded by asking why they cared about the next groups more than about them. The employee replied that all he cared about was getting home. An extreme lack of customer service, and this will make me question ever returning to Tyandaga.
Chedoke Civic Golf Course - Beddoe
Played On 8/3/2013Enjoyable Round
First time playing the Beddoe course at Chedoke, with a hot deal from GolfNow. We're glad we tried it out. The course is in a beautiful spot on the escarpment. The holes provided a good challenge, while giving a fair chance at a good score if you could hit the fairways. The course is fairly open, so even poor shots off the tee could be found.
The only complaint we would have is that the course is a bumpy ride on the carts. :)
We're glad we tried it out, and will definitely go back.
Streetsville Glen Golf Club
Played On 7/1/2013Disapponted by changes
I hadn't played Streetsville since the most recent changes. I imagine it can be challenging to rework and shorten a course to use the same greens, but change the layout. Some holes remain a good challenge, but others had odd distances (<100 yards) and layouts with blind shots around corners or over hills. This would be okay, as you can use various irons to practice, but I was disappointed by the upkeep. The greens didn't seem like they had been mowed, and the tees and fairways were overgrown with weeds in many places. Getting a cheap deal through Golfnow can make it a cheap round, but I'm not sure if I will go back.
Oakville Executive Golf Course - Mystic Ridge
Played On 6/23/2013Good Executive Course
The course conditions appear to have improved over the last couple of years. I have always enjoyed playing the course as a way to practice with irons, as there is a good variety of par 3 lengths.
I find the course a bit pricey for the type of course, but the deal on GolfNow made it a good value.
Puslinch Lake Golf Course
Played On 6/15/2013Highly recommended! An enjoyable round!
I love this course and play it at least once every year.
The course is always in immaculate condition.
I enjoy the course because it isn't too long, while providing enough variety and challenge in the holes, and allowing a chance to score well. It is a fair challenge for many levels of players, from beginner to stronger player.
On this particular visit, there was a back up on the 2nd tee of 4 groups, which made the round longer than usual. I have not experienced this in the past though, and this would not stop me from going back.
