The Bridges Golf Club
Played On 07/22/2023Leave it for the locals
The pace of play here is awful. The starter did a great job getting everyone out on time, but that is where the urgency ends. There is no marshal to keep things moving & someone in charge will let people tee off on the back 9 in the middle of your round to back things up even more. If you're traveling from Dallas, I would suggest playing else where. It will be an 8 hour commitment with the travel time. Leave this for locals who might be willing to put up with a 5 & 1/2 hour round of golf because it's better than a a 2 hour round trip to play a different course.
There are positives to the course:
Nice staff, updated club house, good food, interesting layout & mix of holes.

I have played this course a few times. The course is in good condition & the greens roll true. The only issue right now is there are flies that swarm & bite your ankles. This was not the case when I played here two weeks ago. Hopefully they can get this figured out quickly, because it is maddening at the moment. It's impossible to focus on a shot or putt with these bugs tickling or biting you. I asked other golfers in other groups & it was a course wide issue, not just our group. The course is a great value & the staff is wonderful so I hope I can play here again soon. For now be warned that if you want to play here, wear tall socks & pants.

The greens were recently punched, but there was no course warning on Golfnow, the courses website or from the pro shop when we checked in. We were charged the full price greens fee, so it seems like a dishonest why to operate. Besides changing how they disclose information to customers, they also need to adjust how they are setting up the cups. I hit 5 or 6 putts dead center but the cups are so shallow they bounced back off the connection between the base of the flag stick (the ferrule) & the cup. Other courses have figured out a Covid friendly way to set up the cups for "no contact" ball removal, but it would make sense that this course wouldn't get it right. I suggest spending your money at a different course & actually enjoy your golf experience.
The Courses at Watters Creek - Traditions Course
Played On 07/14/2019Fix the pace of play
The course is nice & the practice area is great. The pace of play is just awful. This was my 3rd time to play Watter's Creek & it has been extremely slow every time. You will have to wait on almost every tee box, so it is difficult to stay in rhythm. Once the Marshall came by to say it was slow, and nothing could be done... He was the one person who could actually do something about it! It's going to be a 5 to 5 & 1/2 hour round at least. Factoring in warm up & drive time you're likely not going to do anything else with your weekend day. I will say again that the practice area is very nice, so you could improve your short game there.
