Actually did play this course in May 2019, but it's been greatly improved by now and from the activity of the grounds crew, it appears there is continued improvement. Not that there were any inconveniences, just evidence of effort to be better, a definite plus!
Friendly folk, great conditions, a challenging track, and near perfect weather made for an excellent day of golf.

First time playing at Olympia Hills and while I found the course a little more challenging than most of the courses I normally play (courses between north San Antonio and central Austin), it was still a positive experience. Course conditions were favorable considering this is obviously a high trafficked facility. As a sixty-five year old with a driving range average from only about 180 up to 210 yards per drive some of the required carries were a little iffy for me, but not nearly as bad as at the Wolfdancer course near Bastrop TX.

Have played this track four or five times now and the conditions of the course are of consistently good quality. The staff are friendly, as are the other patrons with which I have been paired. A bonus this round is the course has a completely new fleet of golf carts with GPS and very comfortable memory foam seating.

Coolish and windy conditions today, so I was looking forward to a low demand turnout at one of my favorite Austin courses. The frustration stemmed from a lot of incomplete grounds keeping going on during my round. I was at least fortunate enough to have the course to myself, as expected. But, some of the greens were in substandard condition or had evidence of having been sanded earlier that morning. Some of the t-boxes, were in need of trimming, others were covered with clumped wet grass where they had been trimmed but not blown off. And many of the t-boxes did not have the t-blocks set which made the par 3s in particular a bit awkward.

Glad I had a $19 Golf Now deal, or I would have felt severely scammed at the more commonly charged rates of $35-$70! All of the greens are in terrible condition, the fairways have a lot of thin spots, and you can forget about it if you end up on the outer edges of the fairway where you’ll only find bald soil, rocks, sticks and leaves. This place does not resemble a flagship course in any way, Mo Willy and Roy Kyzer are both better options for your money. The young lady in the restaurant/bar had nothing to offer personality wise either, and when I mentioned my frustration wth the condition of the greens to the fellow in the pro shop he turned his back to me without making a comment. Beautiful facilities and grounds won’t make up for any of the many other shortcomings Grayrock is suffering!

First time playing at The Preserve at Verdae. Beautiful setting close to town and the interstate. Mature vegitation, some water and sand to negotiate, and a little wildlife like turkey and deer.
Course condition was very good, holes and layout were challenging, and licals were friendly. About as goid as it gets for public golf in the south!

Beautiful setting on the edge of the Catskill Mountains. Atmosphere at the outdoor raw bar is without compare, and the delicious ceviche was made with red snapper and shrimp, not tilapia!
Staff were cordial, but certainly not engaging in the least. While fairways were groomed, the perifial rough was in need of better maintenance. Some quirkiness in the layout, it was still both challenging and enjoyable with the exception of the #16 par 3 hole that had a blind green and seemed forced into the landscape (I made a 3.) Cart trails, not cart paths, no cart beverage service provided, and very limited access to potable water was extremely taxing on a hot and humid day. No excuse for a course not to provide ready access to water for their clients in the heat of the summer! I recommend the course if your in the area, but would not travel 1 1/2 hours to get to it as I did! I will however recommend that outdoor raw bar setting to anyone traveling in the vecinity.

Enjoyed the staff and golf course, but not crazy about all of the surrounding summer activity. There’s a lot going on all around the course with the city pool to the south, Shlitterbahn to the north, and traffic and river tubing to the east. May be more to my liking in the fall and winter months when water activities are diminished.
Helpful to know the course as there are a few places where the river crosses through the fairways and it’s not always possible to perceive that fact from a distance. I went for the green from 190 yards out and watched the ball roll over a ridge, but it never came back up onto the green. It was only when I got cliser that I realized a layup was in order as the river skirted the green. As beautiful as the setting was, I was one in and one out!

Love to play Grey Rock, the amenities are great, the staff is friendly and the course is challenging and well maintained! Will be back many times more in the future as time permits...

Beautiful, peaceful, rural but well maintained, and while challenging it’s still quite fair about giving you opportunity to score. Among my favorite places to play!

The condition of the tightly managed Resort Course at La Contera is as good as it gets. I’m 62, not a particularly long hitter, and as a result had to work hard to keep pace with my scoring. With a 22 HC that’s easier said than done, so I found myself falling behind after taking 3 strokes to make the green on many of the par 4s. I was however able to keep pace on all of the par 5s. In general, I’d say the fairways had generous enough layouts that even with the with strategically placed hazards were still fare enough for me to manage my way through. The course can be pricey, so getting a Hot Deal at better than 50% off peak hours made the experience of playing a PGA caliber golf course all that much mire enjoyable!

2nd time playing this course and even though I didn’t play as well as the 1st time, that’s all on me. The course is beautiful, very well maintained, and the carts have GPS systems. The holes are challenging, often with beautiful Hill Country vistas, yet still fare and scorable. I’m 62, a 25 HC, not a particularly long hitter, and have to drive 30+ miles to get there, but I’ll go back every chance I get. If you’ve not yet played this course, you’re in for a real treat!

Staff knew I was a GolfNow Hot Deal and they were very gracious and inviting to the point they checked up on me a few times during my round to make sure I was enjoying myself. The course was in great shape, challenging from the blues, but not impossible. I’m 62, a 25 HC, and not the longest hitter, but still feel as though the scoring opportunities were within reach. Finished the last 4 holes of the front nine par, par, birdie, par, so I was very pleased with that part of the round! My advice would be Falconhead makes a great outing choice for anyone. Enjoy!

This course is in a downward spiral as it’s obvious no money is being spent to maintain it. Sprinkler heads are clogged which creates heavy concentrations of moisture around the heads and leaves the rest of the course unwatered. Cart paths are not maintained, don’t even exist in many places, requiring you to guess your way around to the next tee box that in some cases end up being the opposite direction of what your instincts would have you believe because of doubling back. In other places the cart paths are washed out with the dirt completely washed away under the cement and the paths roped off. The 16th hole has a large washed out area crossing the middle half of the fairway. Sorry to say, but the back nine are the only holes I would consider playing again.

Beautiful surroundings, nice layout, well maintained course conditions, super friendly staff, and an excellent rate from Golf Now! Highly Recommended!
