Foothills Golf Course - Championship 18 Course
Played On 07/24/2020Decent golf course
I played Foothills Champion course for the first time. It is not particularly difficult but the greens are very inconsistent - mostly slow. Unlike several other courses during COVID, the bunkers were well maintained. I'd play the course again.
Raccoon Creek Golf Course
Played On 07/24/2015Challenging buy fair
Raccoon Creek is a very challenging golf course with lots of water to navigate. It is a course you want to play more than once or with someone that knows the layout. The greens are difficult with many undulations and varying speed.
This is a difficult course, but it well designed and fair.
Emerald Greens Golf Club
Played On 07/12/2015Emeral Greens is a Gem
This is a great short course to practice short to mid irons and putting. The greens are very slow and undulating, so it takes a while to adjust to the speed. The pace of play (90 minutes) makes Emerald Greens a great outing when you don't have hours to play.
Green Valley Ranch Golf Club
Played On 06/15/2014Among the best at their price level
Green Valley is worth the drive to get there. The course plays more difficult than the slope indicates and demands accuracy to keep the ball in play. Anywhere off the fairway and you're in trouble. The course is in great shape.
The staff is very friendly and the club amenities are better than most other Denver area clubs for comparable green fees.
Arrowhead Golf Club
Played On 11/3/2013great course even with plugged greens
This time of year Arrowhead offers a decent value. One of Colorado's most famous (and beautiful) courses, Arrowhead is especially appealing with the Fall/Early Winter rates. The downside of playing Arrowhead now is the greens have been plugged, so putting is bumpy.
Deer Creek Golf Club at Meadow Ranch
Played On 9/8/2013Beautiful course and great value
My first visit to Deer Creek Golf Club was well worth the 35 minute travel time from Denver. The course is nicely maintained, plenty of challenging but fair holes, and a terrific value. I highly recommend Deer Creek for any level of player.
Coal Creek Golf Course
Played On 8/11/2013Requires strategy and execution
Unlike many of the public courses, Coal Creek actually demands careful shot selection and strong execution. This isn't a course to simply take out the driver on every par 4 and par 5. Club selection is critical and it pays big to keep the ball on the short grass. There is no intermediate rough at Coal Creek. Miss the fairway and you are in 2 or 3 inch rough!
Fun course, but think carefully about how you play each hole.
Plum Creek Golf & Country Club
Played On 6/30/2013Take the cart
As a rule, I prefer walking 18 than using a cart. There are a few courses that don't lend themselves to walking - not because of the terrain or the length "tee to green," but because of the distances between one hole to the next. Plum Creek is one of these courses.
The fairways and greens are in good shape, but the tee boxes are pretty beat up. It is worth the specials they run, just expect to take a cart.
Red Hawk Ridge
Played On 6/2/2013Beautiful course
Very nice layout and beautiful vistas. The greens were a bit rough in spots, not quite healed from aeration. The course is well maintained and the pace of play was decent for a Sunday.
Well worth the drive to Castle Rock.
Eagle Trace Golf Club
Played On 5/26/2013Pathetic dog track
Eagle Trace is in terrible condition from tee to green. Don't bother playing this pathetic dog track!
