Great greens, FW's coming along.
Some of the best greens in Central. FL. Fariways are better but trouble spots still around. Overall a great layout made easier by removal of many of the sand traps.
Carts are a problem
I was playing on Saturday 11/18/17 and the cart began to really lose power on hole 7. I called the pro shop and was told they did not have any carts with decent batteries. The guy said run the cart until it totally dies and they would bring out another. It went dead in the middle of hole 9 and Chet did come out promptly. But this is a issue with they are not addressing. I was told the carts were at the end of a 3 year lease ending in April next year. I have had shaky carts 3 times and have quit playing at SB west till carts are resolved.
This is a shame as the course is excellent with a few rough spots.
Course on the way Back
If you are a purist this course is not for you at this time. The new owner's are in the process of reworking the bunkers, the margins of the greens and letting the fairway's wait a bit. You can not do it all at one shot. If you do not mind rolling your ball over in the fairway the course is very enjoyable. This is not an easy track. Lots of sand and water on nearly every hole. The staff are excellent including the starter which is usually not the case! They could use a ranger more to monitor pace of play but it was crowded and no real problem keeping up with group in front. We were a mixed foursome and got around in 4.5 hours total time.
Palisades Country Club
Played On 01/14/2015Needs a lot of work to be decent
Shaggy rye grass fairways, slow bumpy greens. Good layout which has fallen into a poor state. Letting course sit for 6 to 7 months a year does not help. Not worth the money
