I have played this course a few times and this is easily one of my favorite tracks in the area. Layout is great. Not too challenging, and greens are more than fair. Between the Orchard and Hills courses, the Hill is a clear winner with more straight forward and picturesque holes.

Arguably one of the most fun courses in Sacramento. Fairways are wide and well maintained. Layout is not too bad, although I always manage to make a mess of #18 (which IMO is the hardest hole in the course).

Staff is very friendly and facilities are great. Indulge yourself in a breakfast burrito at the grill if you can. Its solid.

This is the second time i played this course ... and the last time was over 3 years ago. Frankly I cannot imagine why i dont play here more often. Conditions were great and pin positions were challenging. There were no gimme holes. The course plays very fair and caters to all skills levels (based on tee box)

This course makes my top 10 fav courses in the Greater Sac area. Its not exactly the most challenging layout that you will encounter, but its no cakewalk either. If you are a long hitter, you can hit some of the par 5's in 2, and not to mention the driveable #13.

Not a lot of water and fairways are wide for the most part. Greens are fair and practice range is in great shape. I am always ready to play a round @ Mather.

I consider myself an aggressive golfer ... always looking to cut corners, or carry a blind tee shot. This course was definitely an awesome challenge because of the very interesting layout and the need to choose your clubs wisely. If you are a conservative golfer ... you will end up needing a few additional strokes on some holes. On the other hand, if you take some risks you can shoot some low scores. Friendly staff and great value for the $$.

Course is well manicured and absolutely beautiful. The fairways are striped criss-cross and generous. The rough beyond the first cut is thick ... but not impossible. Greens are well maintained and have undulations to deal with. I basically ended up using every club in the bag. Also take elevation into consideration when you play here as the ball does travel further.

Try to bake in ample time to use the amazing practice range and greens before you start your round.

Great course for the experienced golfer. Elevated tees and uphill/downhill layout. You really need to know your irons to conquer this course. You will leave the driver in the bag until hole #6. Get used to hitting a 4i or hybrid off the tee before you goto play out there. There are still several holes where you can let the 'big dog eat' and a good drive will reward you. Bottom line - plan on using some good course management.

Got a great rate online ... so decided to make the drive out there to check this course out. The golf did not disappoint.
Great layout. Some holes required you to choose your clubs wisely. Fairways were in great shape. The greens were okay ... nothing special. It was a super hot day so we tried to get thru as fast as we can.

The staff were friendly and the local members were even friendlier. Would certainly love to play here when its a little cooler (and less smoky).

Without a doubt this course is the most fun course I've played on. I played 2 rounds on back to back days - one with wind and one without - and the course plays completely different.
Greens are hard and landing it short and letting it roll is the way to go. Putter is ALWAYS an option and make sure you practice your low punch shot before you go out and play there.

Invest in a yardage book if you dont have a caddy. Trust me ... you'll need it. I am going to try and play this course once a year if I can.

I've played here a few times. I have always struggled to do well here. The layout is challenging and makes you want to second guess your club selection off the tee on some holes. Greens are not easy because of very strategic pin positions. Dont want to take anything away from groundstaff who have done a great job keeping the fairways in good shape.

Practice range has been redone and looks awesome

Love the layout of the course. Not an easy course compared to others in the Sac area. The back-9 is a little bit harder ... especially 10 and 11 with water down the left. Greens are tricky and will make you work ... but all-in-all great value for the money.
