Gleneagle Golf Course

Played On 05/24/2018Invited friend to play but delays at several holes.
Invited a friend to join me after I played the week prior. The course was as expected until we started get held up at tee boxes some times with two groups waiting ahead of us. We wer told there were some 5 somes ahead of us but didn't see them. The delays kind of spoiled an expected good time at the course,

Played On 04/09/2018Expected a more difficult course
On a 50 degree cold start ending up in the low 70's the course was not as difficult as I expected. Longer than what a Senior my age plays but that was known in advance. Course was in pretty good condition except for the greens. Very rough and bumpy. Had no idea where the ball was going to go even on really short putts. Possibly, the Greens hadn't been punched for the spring yet. Fairways were mostly good grass, off the fairway was raw High Desert Brush but not thick so a mishit ball could be found. The sand traps around the greens and the fairway bunkers were well maintained with fluffy white sand. Found one of each. A few elevated greens with pins up front made wedge shots really tricky. Some greens would hold a good wedge shot with back spin others would not. So to summarize, the course was a fair challenge except for really lousy greens. Maybe better weather will bring better greens.
Blue Heron Golf Course
Played On 08/06/2015Poor management
Tee time was scheduled for 12:30. No carts. Since a Real Estate scramble was to start at 12:00. Finally got a cart at 12:20 and did tee off at 12:40. Went downhill from there. Had to wait at every tee. Slower and slower. No course ranger keeping the scramble going. Course ranger gave up cart . No tee times should have been scheduled following the scramble for at least two hours. Really poor course management. A 6 hour round. Arrogant scramble people would not let smaller groups go through. A disaster.

Played On 07/12/2015Excellent experience - Excellent Greens
First time I've played this course so everything was new. Course is very well marked with abundant yardage and OB markers. Front nine has wide fairways and only a few hazards. 9th hole over water. Greens are outstanding. Back nine much more difficult with several holes over water on the drive or second shot. Tree lined fairways narrow at times. Abundant directional signs to get to the next hole. Restrooms in middle of course. Oh did I mention the greens are excellent. I would play this course every time out if it wasn't so far from home for me. Proshop attendant called me out by name when I went in to register. Tim used to be at another course that I still play quite a bit. Treated me very well. I would recommend this course to weekend golfers and even those who think they are better than most. Back 9 will challenge them. I highly recommend this course for all levels of players.

Kenwanda Golf Course
Played On 06/20/2014If you want to be punished
If you want tee boxes that are about half grass, If you want fairways so bumpy and hilly that you have to drive so slow with a cart the walkers pass you up. If you want several blind holes where the gree is not visible even for the approach shot, and if you want greens so slow with heavy grain that putting is totally unpredictable, this is the course for you.

Played On 05/18/2014Back 9 much improved
I've played this course a few times and my primary complaint was that it was kind of boring with parallel fairways going back and forth a little to close together, Front 9 hasn't changed much but the back 9 has been changed substantially. The views are fantastic and 16, 17 and the 18th holes are a real challenge. the new 16 has the second shot over water to the green. The all new 17 has an only 243 (white# yards to the green but must carry at least 175 yards to carry the canyon to a quite narrow fairway. Hills to the left and mountainside down to the Columbia River on the right and a deep canyon on the way to the fairway. A bit intimidating. I got lucky and hit the fairway with only about 40 yards to the pin. Hit a Lob Wedge to 2 feet short of the green. Putted to the hole from off the green and it went in for a birdie. .18 another short par 3 #142 Yard white) again over another canyon which is fairly open on the left but the same mountain hazard on the right down to the Columbia River. Ok to be safe hit to the right side of the green! Wrong/ A two level green with the left side higher by at least two maybe three feet than the right side. I hit the left side of the green and had to put to the right side where the in was close to the ledge. Hard to keep the ball on the right side of the green much less get close to the pin. Put right to the edge of the ledge and almost stopped but went down the ledge and at least 5 feet past the pin. Made the putt for a par. The views from these two holes are spectacular of the whole Wenatchee Valley and the Columbia River and the risk/reward of the last two holes are invigorating! Enjoyed the course much more than before.
Gleneagle Golf Course
Played On 4/24/2013Too many hazards
I don't fully ubnderstand why it is that I lose so many balls on this corse. I can play other courses for a complete season and not lose s ball. This course has all the hazards at my typical shot lengths. A very frustrating course

Played On 1/19/2013Greens need work
The fairways are ok but the greens were bumpy and uneven.
Cedarcrest Golf Course
Played On 10/10/2012Shorter course but can be difficult
This is a course where you are really rewarded if in the middle of the fairway. Just a few hazards across the fairway. Most along the edges. Trees come into play along many of the edges of the fairway. No bunkers or sandtraps in front of greens. Water can get in the way at times. #10 par 4 is the #1 handicap hole and unless you are a 220 plus distance driver it is tough to get to the elevated green in 2. Greens and fairways were just punched so won't comment on their conditions.
White Horse Golf Club
Played On 8/31/2012Unreasonably difficult course
Be prepared for an expensive Ferry ride and then a confusing search for the course if coming from the West side. However, if you can plan several days in advance the course will come and get you from the Ferry terminal so you can leave your car and walk on the Ferry. The Club House is under construction so there is quite a mess around the temporary club house which is in a trailer. The course itself is extremely challenging and is in decent shape. It has water, rough and sand bunker hazards on almost every hole. The elevated greens are extremely tough. Small and pin placement the day I played were at the very front edge of the green. If you are a casual golfer this is not the course to play. If you are a scratch golfer you will help increase your handicap dramatically. A good course to challenge the pros but too tough for us amateurs. Beautifull views and environment if you are not too frustrated to enjoy it.
Willows Run Golf Club - Eagle's Talon Course
Played On 8/25/1913Agonizingly slow
I should have known better than to play this course on a Sunday. The 18 holes took even though we were off the first Tee 10 minutes before tee time. Course Ranger told us there was a shotgun tournament ahead of us with about 50% unskilled players. The delay got worse on each successive hole. Wait, wait wait and we were a foursome. Course was built on flat river bottom land with mounds and any elevations changes due to owner modifications.Fairways were fairly wide and most of the time were plush grass but some Tee Boxes were showing over use and were needing some extra attention, Greens were in pretty good shape but offered the ball a sometimes bumpy ride due to previous morning use which in some cases had undue control of intended ball path. Green speed varied quite a bit from green to green and our 4 some could not quite figure out why. It seemed sometimes the greens had been cut at different heights. Not sure of that but had our whole foursome talking to themselves. Greens guarded by bunkers and man made mounds or water. One par three showed white tees to green of 143 yards 90% over water. Another Par 4 water hole had a longer second shot over water. Fairways lined with much more mature trees and natural junk weeds. Much larger, taller and thicker than years ago. The course has matured. Really trouble if the fairway shot goes astray significantly. Nothing really difficult on the whole course. But Oooh Sooo slow. Members of my foursome said the course was always slow. The primary attribute of this course is that it is close in to the East Side Seattle suburbs. Other than that .... kind of a mediocre course. Oh $15 cart fee when the website shows a reduced senior rate. Not available on Sunday but not shown on website. I'll close with a positive. The $4 hotdog on a dry bun was pretty good as hotdogs go.
