Ventana Canyon - Canyon Course
Played On 04/22/2021Outstanding course layout.
Course condition was excellent. Pace of play was horrendous! Over booked.
Course forbids private food or drink, but turns around and charges $5.00 for a .69 cent bottle of soda. Didn’t buy food...to expensive.
Would not have found pro shop without help..poorly marked.
Driving range limits distance to 225 yards, so inadequate preparation.
The Club at Starr Pass - Rattler/Coyote
Played On 04/19/2021Price was $30.00 higher than two years ago. Course was dry...very little rain according to locals. Greens we’re running between 12-13...very quick.

The lack of a driving range makes it difficult to prepare for the round.
Pro shop wanted to charge a “rider fee” for my wife, who does not play, but travels with me. After I objected, he removed the charge.
Pace of play was very slow...course was fully booked, lending to the pace of play.
Course conditions were good to very good. Green speeds were exceptionally slow.

The practice facility is one of the best. Starter “Eddie” is the most pleasant and helpful employee at the course.
Counter people weren’t quite up to the level of friendly, but were business like.

This is a FANTASTIC and beautiful place to play a round of golf. The only reason I rated the course so low was for one reason... ALMOST ALL OF THE GREENS ARE DEAD or dying from a severe infestation of Black Velvet fungus!
They told us after we arrived that they would be replacing all the greens starting in April.... certainly will not be playable for at least a year! I asked if they were going to make that known to GolfNow and other booking sights and they indicated that they would just offer a lower rate while people come thinking they are going to play a five star course, not knowing that they will be using temporary greens placed in the fairway or approach area.

I found that the outside personnel were quite friendly and helpful, but the counter (pros perhaps?) were indifferent. We played during Spring break...which of course saw a substantial raise in prices for play...gouging is the proper term.

The Club at Starr Pass - Rattler/Coyote
Played On 05/04/2018Championship course with all that you can want.
From the counter personnel to the starter, service was great. Pace of play was very good. Would play here again in a heart beat.
Bacon Park Golf Course
Played On 04/14/2018Bacon Park, Savannah, Georgia
I booked this course based upon photos and ratings. The course was completely dried out..driving range was nothing but dirt...tee boxes had little or no grass as did the fairways. Many of the fairways were rock hard with very little grass. Greens were overgrown with poa annua at least 1/2 inch tall! A number of the greens were nearly dead from lack of water.
Pace of play was horrendous! No rangers to move the players along.
