Lewis River Golf Course
Played On 09/27/2022What on earth has happened to Lewis River?
Played Lewis River for the first time this year and to say the level of maintenance neglect was shocking is an understatement. Entire fairways with dead grass and dirt with only a few patches of actual green grass, and they had been punched like the greens. Similarly, the greens had dead and bare patches and with the aeration, were almost unputtable. No drinks cart, pop machine on course out of order, no water on course, no ball washers, restaurant closed, pro shop empty, but green fees remain the same. Hopefully this is just temporary and they haven't tossed in the towel like The Cedars.
Skamania Lodge - The Gorge 9
Played On 08/22/2018Need marshals
The course was in nice shape but extremely slow even on a Wednesday because of beginners on a difficult course.....and no marshals. Also, no water on the course and the temp was in the 90s.
Camas Meadows Golf Club
Played On 08/13/2018Camas Meadows still doesn't get it.
Camas Meadows is only playable in the summer because of poor drainage. So we played today in mid-August and found February conditions because of tons of water dumped on the course every night. I lost two balls in the fairway because of plugging....water standing on the course....mushrooms growing around tee boxes and on fairways...ridiculous. Will someone clue these people in that in summer it should PLAY like it's summer?
Eastmoreland Golf Course
Played On 05/12/2018Staff do not care
I was forced to wait 20 minutes while making the turn to join a threesome, one of whom was smoking right in front of the no smoking sign on #10 in front of a marshal. Later on at #17, the same marshal came up in a cart and chatted with the same guy who was....smoking...as he did the entire time. Staff do not enforce the Portland Public Golf policy of no smoking and do not care about people who ...like me...are allergic to it. I won't be back.
Lewis River Golf Course
Played On 09/11/2017What happened to Lewis River?
No drinks cart despite it being a hot day, no water on course, large bare patches on fairways, putts bounced along on the greens instead of rolled, course was packed with mostly elderly players, no marshal, 5 hours.....on a Monday...and we drove 40 miles and paid $35.00 for all this! What a bargain.
Oak Knoll Golf Course & Driving Range
Played On 06/04/2016Extremely slow...indifferent staff
Using GolfNow I was put behind a scramble tournament that had 5-6 players per team. Several teams had beginners. I had a 10-15 wait on every tee box. I informed a course marshal who did absolutely nothing. It was near 100 degree heat, yet no drinks cart. All this for $34.00 walking. Needless to say, I won't be back.
Eastmoreland Golf Course
Played On 04/09/2016So-So experience
One water fountain on the course, no drinks cart, few ball washers, course covered in goose droppings and NO air hose....plus indifferent staff.
Green Mountain Golf Course
Played On 01/25/2015Virtually unplayable...
because of poor drainage on the fairways and greens. Ball plugging on nearly every hole. No pride in course appearance...beer cans, garbage strewn about, downed trees, last year's dead weeds, etc.
Mountain View Golf Club
Played On 08/08/2014Mountain View staff
Does the Mountain View staff care about the people who pay to play there? I used a hot deal on GolfNow, which included a "shared cart." When I arrived, I was paired up to share a cart with a chain smoker, who was already half drunk. I went into the pro shop and politely informed them that I was allergic to tobacco smoke and asked if I could have a cart for myself for health reasons. I was informed, "No, a shared cart means a shared cart." So I spent the day mostly walking alongside the cart in order to not get nauseous from his cigarette smoke. In answer to my question, Mountain View staff care more about saving a few cents on golf car batteries than on the health/welfare of the people who pay and drive to play their facility.
Quarry Oaks Golf Club
Played On 07/08/2014Don't miss Quarry Oaks.
I'm from Portland, Oregon and played Quarry Oaks in early July. Staff in the pro shop were semi-friendly but the older guy who was the starter was great. The course meanders through an old oak forest with several holes along the Platte River and numerous elevation changes. The cost was $45.00, which included the cart and lunch...nothing even close to this kind of deal in my area. Quarry Oaks should be a must play if in this area.
Crooked Creek Country Club
Played On 07/07/2014Easy-walking nine
This course is nicely maintained and a great spot to play nine in the evenings. The only problem is that it's grossly overpriced.
Fox Hollow Country Club
Played On 07/03/2014Great value, nice layout
I'm from Portland, Oregon and play Fox Hollow each year when I'm visiting relatives in Nebraska. It's a great nine holer, nicely maintained, and a great value. It has a nice mix of holes, a few of which have Pete Dye railroad ties. It's right on Highway 6 and should be a must play if in this area.
The Cedars on Salmon Creek
Played On 01/25/2014Same rude staff at Cedars
I stopped playing Cedars 5-6 years ago because of the way I was always treated by their staff and it's even worse now. I had an 11:30 tee time today and when I arrived I was told that, because of a frost delay, I would be going out at 1:12. I asked why their website had no frost delay update and no policy regarding delays, why at least an email could be sent to keep people informed, etc. The head woman pro just looked at me and shrugged. I told her that, since it gets dark at around 5:00, I wouldn't be able to even finish my round and got another "tough luck" shrug. So I ended up driving 35 miles round trip and not being able to play. Never again Cedars.
Orchard Hills Golf Club
Played On 6/08/2013Two distinct nines
The older, front nine is short, tight, and tree-lined. The longer back nine is more open and more fun. Courteous staff, very well maintained. The only drawback was the tiny irons-only driving range. Overall, a really cool golf experience.
East at Glendoveer Golf Course
Played On 5/25/2013Rude, nasty staff
I used GolfNow to get an 8:22 tee time as a single. When, I arrived, they had a tournament going on that conflicted with my tee time, and it wasn't honored. I gave my ticket to the starter. At 8:55, the starter asked me, "When is your tee time again?" When I told him, he said I had missed the group I was supposed to go out with. He didn't tell me or show me or introduce me to the group, so I had no way of knowing who I was playing with. I went into the shop to get a refund. They acted like THEY were inconvenienced...no apology...no nothing. Customer satisfaction or civility is not something Glendoveer staff concerns themselves with. I will not be back.
OGA Golf Course
Played On 3/19/2013Ok course for summer, but grossly overpriced.
Total confusion on the first tee because there was no starter (on a Sunday??). Overpriced even at the $37.00 Hot Deal price.
Stonecreek Golf Club
Played On 12/1/2012Best winter course in the Portland area
Stone Creek is about the only place in the Portland area where the ball gets a bit of roll and doesn't plug in the winter time. The back nine is tougher and hillier than the front. Great staff. One negative is hole #14 is often a temporary green, yet they still charge thirty-nine bucks to play it on weekends, even in December.
Mountain View Golf Club
Played On 11/18/2012#12 is this whole course
Mountain View is fine in the summer, but in winter, forget it...mud, ball plugging, etc. Of course, hole #12 makes it worth it. But be forewarned...when it's wet, it's almost impossible to stop carts from skidding on the steep slope down, even with the brake locked. In fact, we slid into the guard rail once. Also, they need to redo the tee area on #12....it's getting kind of embarrassing. How much would it cost them to rplace the mat occasionally? A few of the greens, particularly #15 and #17, are tricked up to the point as to make them almost unputtable.
Heron Lakes Golf Club - Great Blue Course
Played On 9/17/2012Great Blue
Stick with the Great Blue course, although both are virtually unplayable in the winter because of the soft conditions (ball plugging). Great Blue is a challenging links layout. ...both courses are often coated in geese droppings, coating pull cart tires with an inch of the stuff...small grass tees driving range
East at Glendoveer Golf Course
Played On 9/7/2012East course is great in summer....
but in the winter, both courses play very soft with plugging balls, etc. East course is more fun and challenging....staff, especially the starters, are often downright rude. Glendoveer discriminates against single players by not accepting tee times for them on golfnow, so I can't recommend it.
