Lewis River Golf Course
Played On 8/18/2012good winter course
I recommend Lews River because it's one of the few courses you can actually play in the winter in this area where the ball doesn't plug on every shot. Practice facility is grass tees, but irons only.
Skamania Lodge - The Gorge 9
Played On 7/24/2012Bring some extra balls.....
because if you're not hitting it straight here, you'll lose a bunch. Tough, tight, and hilly....soft and muddy in winter...super friendly staff. The $30.00 with cart deal on golfnow is great.....retail is waaay overpriced however.
Chehalem Glenn Golf Club
Played On 6/20/2012Hilly, challenging course
Difficult to walk, so a cart is a must. Given the traffic hassles to get there, it's a bit overpriced unless a golfnow "Hot Deal" is used. Like most courses in the valley, very little sand was used in construction, so it drains poorly in the winter. But in the summer, it's a blast.
Salem Golf Club
Played On 5/28/2012Salem is a fun layout....
but poor drainage in winter means plugged balls, etc. Nice pro shop with Southern-style clubhouse.
Three Rivers Golf Course
Played On 5/17/2012Best bet for winter play....
along with Stone Creek in NW Oregon/SW Washington. Great deals on golfnow.
Rose City Golf Course
Played On 4/22/2012bad experiences here
Three different times over the past few years I've been hassled at Rose City when making a reservation through golfnow. They either don't have my reservation or try to charge me more, all with a snotty attitude. The course is an unimaginative layout, with soft and muddy conditions in the winter.
Camas Meadows Golf Club
Played On 4/22/2012Ok to play in the summer...winter...forget it.
Way overpriced at $50.00+ except maybe in the summer. Soft, mushy fairways, plugged balls, chainlink fences bordering holes, houses on the course...should be $30.00 max. The course has a nice practice facility.
The Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club - South Course
Played On 3/31/2012Good summer course,
but in the winter, forget it....wet, soft, ball plugs....friendly staff, great clubhouse.....south course is the tougher and more fun of the two.
Chehalem Glenn Golf Club
Played On 3/14/2012A bit overpriced but a nice layout
I'ts overpriced if you pay full green fees, especially after negotiating traffic to get there. Nice, challenging layout, but soft and not a good winter course. Back nine is quite hilly, so older players will need a cart.
Langdon Farms Golf Club
Played On 2/15/2012Good place to play in the summer....
poor drainage in winter....ball plugs....restaurant staff was rude...left us standing there for over 5 minutes despite being half empty without seating us...we finally just left. Retail is overpriced...use golfnow "Hot Deals". I recommend it for summer play only.
Foxglove/Pinecone at Resort at the Mountain, The
Played On 3/15/2011One of the three nines is a fun, imaginative layout...
the other two are "bleh"...not worth the drive from the Portland area...plays soft and wet except in summer
We're very sorry you were treated poorly in Langdon's Grill. That is definitely not the norm for us and hope you will give us another shot. As for the conditions, we're regularily recognized as one of the driest courses around. We've identified some excessively wet areas with all the rain recently and plan to add a significant amount of drainage. I hope you'll come back for another winter round as we know you'll be impressed. Thanks again for helping us improve!
