Guildford Golf and Country Club
Played On 03/16/2023First round of the year
Gentleman at check-in was very friendly. Conditions were to be expected for this time of year, soft and muddy throughout the course but I’ve played Guildford under worse conditions before. Greens were recently sanded and there was one temporary green that we were not made aware of. All in all, a beautiful day for a sub-$30 round of golf. Only complaint was pace of play. We followed a slow twosome that was following a slow threesome and a slow foursome. It would have been nice if a course marshall could have been there to move them along.
Fraserview Golf Course
Played On 05/11/2019Meh.
I was unimpressed with today. Fraserview is one of three courses run by the City of Vancouver. It is the best of the three but it is over-priced. If they’re going to charge what they charge, they better have the course in immaculate shape and that it was not. There were massive patches of sand underneath parts of the fairway and rough. There was another hole with a fairway that looked like someone left a sprinkler on all night. Don’t get me started on the $10 “advanced booking” fee and course marshalls that don’t help speed up pace of play. I will not be playing Fraserview again anytime soon.
Delta Golf Club
Played On 03/20/2019Delta Golf Course
First round of the season on a beautiful day. It was spongy in some spots but very few puddles and soggy areas. It rained a bit the week before but we got a few days of warm, sunny weather before I played on Wednesday. Greens had an odd fungus or some sort of bloom growing on them which made putting challenging (greens weren’t exactly slow, but were bumpy), but all in all, the course was in pretty good shape.
Greenacres Golf Course
Played On 05/27/2017Greenacres, May 27, 2017
We decided on Greencacres because it's close and through GolfNow it was relatively cheap.
The course recently took on a lot of water and was finally dry. There were large patches of dried mud where massive puddles used to be. Those will take time to recover. A wind storm earlier in the week scattered debris everywhere that was somewhat, but not all, cleared. Still, no major issues. The strangest thing was they cut a few of the holes in the worst, chewed-up parts of the greens. Putts would jump and bounce on their way to the hole. There were parts of the these greens that were in great shape and I don't understand why they wouldn't put the hole locations there.
All in all, you get what you pay for. It was fun. I will probably end up playing there again in the future for the reasons I mentioned earlier, but I hope that the course will be in better condition at that time.
