Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run
Played On 10/09/2023Overall great and would play again
I’ve played here before and like I remembered, it was a nice course. Great layout, conditions were good, and staff friendliness couldn’t be beat.
Pace was slow, with a 5 hour round waiting several times for groups ahead of us, so perhaps marshals can get on top of this.
Only real complaint is the rough. Your ball can roll 1 yard in and you may never see it again. I’m not sure what kind of grass it is (4” deep and wirey), but unless you’re looking straight down on it, your ball is near impossible to see. That’s not the designer’s intention and a little rough maintenance could go a long way. Balls shouldn’t be lost that easily.
Rose Hill Golf Club
Played On 10/07/2023Getting better, but …
I've played Rose Hill twice before in the past 5 years and the conditions were awful. I believe they have new ownership and/or management now.
Course conditions are MUCH better than they were, and I would dare to say very good. Still some weeds on the fairway, but playable. Greens were very good. Bunkers acceptable. Tee boxes mostly good but need cutting shorter. Rough was challenging as you could walk right past your ball and not see it.
They were short on carts and i had to wait 10 minutes past my tee time before i had one.
My biggest issue is the food and drink situation. No beverage cart at all. The restaurant at the course is separately owned and operated and for whatever reason don’t offer quick bites for players. I showed up early to grab a bite and waited almost 30 minutes for a $20 hotdog.
Want a quick bite to go after 9 holes? Too bad.
Overall, worth the price for golf but eat first and bring water.
Nice thing is... you can bring your own food and drink. And just bring a water bottle -- they have a water station at the driving range, and water containers at a few tee boxes. Agree a food/bev cart would be nice. It's unfortunate the restaurant isn't interested in "grab and go" or catering to golfers. But don't fault the course for this. Maybe the course could at least have some snacks at the pro shop?
Glen Eagle Golf Club - Blue/Yellow
Played On 08/14/2023Needs work
Glen Eagle has been around forever, and honestly, it shows. The course is in OK shape, with the same ground under repair from a year ago. The clubhouse is essentially non-existent. There doesn't seem to ever be anyone working the bar, and pre-made sandwiches are the only option.
There are usually 3 9-hole courses (Red, Yellow, Blue) but this time they had a layout called "the original course". Fine ... except for those of us who use apps and GPS watches. There's no such layout to select. For several holes, I had no idea of layout or distances which was really frustrating.
Given the price ($100 with cart) I'd expect Glen Eagle to be reinvesting into modernizing the clubhouse, and fix the ongoing course repair.
Mayfield Golf Club - Blue
Played On 07/10/2023Great for the price
Played an early morning solo round and raced through 18 in 2:15.
Older woman on the front desk is cranky but starter was cool.
Played White/Blue which is a nice mix of open fairways and trees.
No beverage cart but I was out early. Don’t remember ever seeing them in afternoons either.
Thanks so much for the great review, jheuer. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing Mayfield Golf Club - Blue.
Banty's Roost Golf and Country Club - Blue/Red
Played On 07/06/2023Improving slowly
I’ve rated this course very low in the past but it seems conditions are improving. Slowly.
Fairways still have some light weeds but the greens are good. Maintenance has improved significantly.
The deck overlooking the par 3 is amazing but the bbq and bar are never open. This could be a cash cow.
Hopefully this improvement continues.
Want a simple, inexpensive round? This is your place.
Calerin Golf Course
Played On 05/21/2023Great layout, poor marshalling
This is a 9-hole course that can be challenging. Usually very well maintained and challenging. The Marshall doesn’t seem to care about pace and inserts members at the turn (playing 18) messing up the pace.
Orangeville Golf Club
Played On 05/14/2023Great price, simple course
Don’t expect anything fancy here. Some call it a dog track but it does have some good qualities. In spring or early summer the fairways and greens are decent. By mid or late summer it gets very dry and firm, making some Par 4’s driveable for many.
Glen Eagle Golf Club - Blue/Yellow
Played On 07/25/2022Glen Eagle Golf Club - Blue/Yellow
Played On 07/25/2022Usually nice, but a little pricy
I’ve heard a lot of bad things about Glen Eagle but I usually enjoy myself. I think they’re trying to level up a little, but they have work to do.
Only 2 of the 3 9-hole courses ever seem to be available (Blue/Yellow) which is puzzling.
Clubhouse / bar is weak, and the stop at the turn between Blue 9 and Yellow 1 never seems to be open.
Glen Eagle Golf Club - Blue/Yellow
Played On 05/18/2022Overall great, but not much in food or drinks.
I’ve had mixed experiences here in the past, but this time I was very happy with the course conditions. Tee boxes were good, fairways VERY good and greens EXCELLENT. Some bunkers could use a little work but no real complaints.
Weather wasn’t stellar so it wasn’t very busy. Two groups we caught up with happily let us play through.
The main bar/restaurant was essentially closed down. Bottled drinks and pre-made sandwiches only. The reasoning was Covid, which doesn’t make sense as every other course is in full operation. Plus, one of the few industries not severely impacted by Covid was golf. Bookings skyrocketed.
I question whether management has a handle on things and if the quiet day was truly because of the weather or word is getting around.
I’d definitely play here again if the price is right.
Las Sendas Golf Club
Played On 04/22/2022Fantastic desert golf
Las Sendas was the first course I played in my week and I came back a second time to end my week since I loved it so much.
The course has a little of everything,,, rolling fairways, desert OB, some water, and undulating greens. The conditions were top notch. The greens were challenging and rolled true… take advantage of the practice putting green!
I’d definitely play here again.
Thanks so much for your wonderful review, jheuer. We are thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed your time with us. Please visit again soon. Thanks for choosing Las Sendas Golf Club!
Red Mountain Ranch Country Club
Played On 04/19/2022Kind of beaten up
This course feels like a casual municipal course but apparently it’s a semi-private country club. Tee boxes were rough, fairways mediocre, short rough full of weeds, bunkers muddy. Some of the rough looked like a construction site. The greens were in pretty good shape however.
Crazy lady on 8th fairway threw a ball at me accusing me of breaking her window, while my ball was in the fairway. Not the clubs fault but beware, some holes have tightly packed houses.
For the $100+ for the round, I would not recommend.
Rose Hill Golf Club
Played On 10/09/2021You get what you pay for
As one of the cheaper courses in the area, expect some rough conditions. Tee boxes completely brown, crab grass everywhere, and hard bunkers. Nice layout would be amazing if they’d put more care into the turf.

Old South Golf Links
Played On 10/02/2021Hidden gem
So many overlook this course and it’s reliably in great condition. Lots of water!
Thanks for your 5 star review. Keep Old South on your list of :must play" courses when you are in the low-country of SC.
Bethesda Grange Golf Course
Played On 09/26/2020Glen Eagle Golf Club - Blue/Yellow
Played On 09/05/2020Lots of repairs
Played Yellow-Red and yellow was in ok shape. Red had a lot of work being done
2 groups ahead of us dead slow, no marshals anywhere.
For the price, I'd expect better.
Hello and thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. With an uncharacteristically full day, we work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and allow our guest the chance to complete their rounds. With that in mind, we are working to best control pace and allow everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve. Thank you for playing Glen Eagle Golf Club - Blue/Yellow. We hope to see you again soon.
Goreway Golf Club
Played On 07/26/2020I was warned this was crap
A friend warned me that Parkshort was a 1/10 and easily the worst course he had seen.
Parkshore did not disappoint. Hard, brown fairways, patchy greens, and mud or overgrown bunkers.
Take your kids for the first time maybe, otherwise, skip it.
Orangeville Golf Club
Played On 07/03/2020Unsure at first but happy
When this was first booked, I was skeptical that it would be a good track. 9 holes played twice for the 18?
Happy to say, we were very satisfied with the course. A driveable par 4, a couple of solid doglegs, and slanted fairways so placement was important. The 9th hole is a great example of that. A solid shot straight down the middle or slightly right can get you near the green because of the slope and chute. A little left and you're in the trees.
The greens were fast and in great shape when we played. Very happy considering the affordable fees.
Granite Ridge Golf Club - Cobalt
Played On 06/29/2020Always love GR
The Cobalt course is a beautiful track. For most holes, if you miss the fairway you'll easily find your ball. There is some water that make some holes a challenge. Overall, I've never had a bad time at GR.
We're happy to hear you always have a great round at Granite Ridge Golf Club!
Thank you for your feedback on your recent experience at our golf course. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the layout, good conditions, and friendly staff. We apologize for the slow pace of play and the issue with the rough. We appreciate your suggestion for better maintenance in order to improve visibility of golf balls.
