Just Okay

I played 18 as part of a threesome on Memorial Day. The pace of play was good; we had to wait on a few tee boxes and fairways, but we completed the round in 4 hours.
Despite it being a blazing-hot holiday, there was no beverage cart on the course and each of the four water coolers positioned around the course was empty.
Despite the dry weather the greens were in good shape, very firm. The fairways and much of the rough were suffering with lots of dead patches and exposed hard-pan areas. Strangely, the pins on the front nine were all positioned near the middle of the greens, and the pins on the back nine were much tougher, often only a few steps off the fringe.
A fun round of golf with friends; however the course has no memorable holes, great views, or stand-out qualities to bring me back.

Great layout, great condition

This course has a classic look and feel, not overly manipulated to create the holes. The greens were in perfect condition and rolling very fast. This underrated gem is on par (or better) than most of the neighboring Kiawah courses that are better known.

Good bones, mediocre conditions

The layout is traditional with some interesting holes around ponds and marshes. The greens were nicely shaped but bumpy. No rough and the fairways were baked and patchy. Wide and forgiving.
