West at Tamarack Golf Course
Played On 09/11/2020Great Course - everything else horrid
1- The golf course never alerted GN that the greens were aerated and was charged full freight. With that said they were in better shape then the course. I’ve played many courses in bad shape. I’ve never seen a course this bad.
2- The golf course never alerted GN it was cart path only as well and we weren’t alerted until the 7th hole. A manger (we think) came out to tell us. When he did we apologized and said we weren’t told. His reply “Well now you are.”
3- Tamarack West is a phenomenal course. What a shame they have let this turn into. Hopefully one day it will be back to where it was in the 1990’s when I played there last because it doesn’t deserve to be treated this bad and poorly run. Shame on you Middlesex County NJ.
Eagle Landing Golf Club
Played On 07/27/2020Uninspiring
I will try and be nice. Other then $32.00 including cart was the best thing about this place and the cart girl who got someone to get me a new cart after mine broke down (phones were broken too) and had to walk 4 holes in 100 degree heat. She called the “bosses” cell and I can’t thank her enough. As for the course. It felt like every hole was the same. Just BLAH. Greens were fair...faster then they looked. Fairways were fair...extremely soft sand. Plays longer then yardage says. I could say a lot more about pace or other staff (or lack there of) but I guess if you want to play a new course for a decent rate if you haven’t played it you can see for yourself. Just make sure there’s a cart girl around. I heard I wasn’t the only one.
Minebrook Golf Club
Played On 08/04/2019Save your time and money
I have been lucky enough to play all over the world and I think (after much thought) I found the worst course I’ve ever played in all facets except the staff was nice, but our tee time was 30 mins late due to “double bookings.” Never heard that one. So...there was more dirt on the tees and fairways then grass. The greens if you want to call them greens (many would be classified as sand..and not top dressing) ran about 5 and I’m being generous. You could not get your tee in the ground because it was too hard. And the rough it’s indescribable. I’m just happy I left with 14 clubs with all the rocks under the grass/dirt. This was the biggest waste of $45.00 and 5 hours of my time and I wholeheartedly do NOT recommend this course to my worst enemy. The sad thing is there are some decent holes but this is just an example of an owner pocketing the money and not putting a dollar into what could be a decent course. If that ever happens maybe I’ll go and see. Otherwise, not a chance.
Mount Airy Golf Club
Played On 08/04/2017Very fun challenging course
I played Mount Airy for the first time over the weekend. Though I only played nine holes (back nine) I found the course to be very fun, fair and challenging. The starter, who was very friendly and helpful said the front was better than the back so I'm looking forward to going back and playing it in whole although the bunkers need a lot work which was the only negative of the course on conditions. I do recommend playing the white tees because it's long and has many forced carries which makes the yardage not indicative of what the scorecard reads. I fully recommend this course to players of all skill however being a resort course, the round could be slow.
Morgan Hill Golf Course
Played On 08/01/2017Not for anyone lower than a 10 HDC
Morgan Hill is an extremely challenging golf course not for the mid to high handicap golfer even from the shortest tees. Since it's in a housing development, (though the houses have no interference with play,) you have many novices making six hour rounds a norm. I only play Morgan Hill if I'm the first time. As a scratch player it's one of the toughest courses I've ever played. It's long, demanding and will penalize you for even good shots due to the brutal green complexes. I recommend for low handicap to go once for the challenge so long as you can get the first time but anyone higher than 10-12, find somewhere else. You won't enjoy it and will most likely will quit at the turn after your three hour nine.
Bowling Green Golf Club
Played On 06/25/2015Great course, overbearing staff
I hadn't played Bowling Green in sometime but wanted to go back because it is a true hidden gem. The tree lined fairways, great play ability for all levels, and value are just a few reasons to play. With that said, as great as the course is, the staff thinks this place is Baltusrol or Ridgewood. While getting ready to tee off, we were given the cart rules for the day. You literally needed a pen a paper as it seemed every hole had a rule (it had not rained in two weeks so it was bone dry). We didn't get 100 yards down the fairway and I looked back a saw a cart approaching our group. I was scolded saying didn't you hear what I told you? I said I'm sorry a moved on. Then on number 6, a maintenance worked came after us for riding too far in the rough. I finally said..."sir, where the .... do you want us to ride??" It was such a shame because you felt on pins and needles all day that a staff member was following you (which they did a few times after #6). I would 100% recommend Bowling Green, but make sure you bring a pad and pencil and if your walking, repair every divot and hallmark. They're watching.
