As usual

All fine but the distance markers on the ground were obscured by grass and as relative strangers this made the round frustrating. A problem common at many courses BTW.

Little changed

Know the course well as used to be a member >10 years ago. Everything was absolutely fine except the member group in front never once rang a fairway free bell and anyone who knows the course knows that there are 6 bells on the front 9, more on the back 9 but by then the group had managed to move away from us because we were standing on tees waiting for bells! Maybe that was their master plan all along? Totally ignorant but then I remembered why I never much liked the place.

Slowest greens ever and a free for all on the course.

Possibly the slowest greens I've ever encountered and I've played some right disasters. Some benefit of the doubt because maybe covid has impacted the green keeping but they really were terrible. Rest of the course was OK.

Just as big a problem was players not sticking to the course. It started on the first hole when a single player showed up just as we were teeing off bang on our tee time. He did not follow us onto the 2nd. All through the round we found out that single players jump in front and behind and wander the course playing whatever hole they want and don't give a thought that they are impacting play on a busy bank holiday. Then by hole 14 a trio of 'elderly' gentlemen did the same and the pace became even worse. We were done in 3hrs 50m so not the worst but it leaves a sour taste for a visitor and will come into my thinking if I ever come back. Not even convinced all these single players had a reserved tee time and suspect they just showed up on a sunny bank holiday chancing their arm on 'their' home course?

A grand day out

Greens in good condition though a little variable in pace green to green. As always a little bit more signage for the strangers would be appreciated and no markers for 'over the hill' holes. Changing area very cramped with almost no seating or places to leave shoes if you don't have a locker. Did not partake of hospitality but all the staff were fantastic. All members very welcoming as well apart rom one grumpy that objected to no warning for a ball that landed 40yds from him. Hey ho - always one.

Of course par66, 8x par 3s is not to everyone's liking but still a reasonable challenge.
