Ravenmeadow Golf Centre
Played On 07/20/2018A course of two halfs
First time at Ravenmedow Golf Centre and conditions of the greens were great considering how dry the summer has been. Hit a few balls on the range to begin with which was of a good standard. It would have been nice to have a practice putting green too but I think this is under construction next to the driving range before entering the course. The golf course as a whole was a good experience, the front 9 holes are considerably better than the back 9 although im not saying the back 9 are bad holes, I just found them not as fun as the front 9. Some signs directing first time players to the location of the next tee or a map on the score card would greatly improve the course as a considerable amount of time was spent looking especially for the 18th tee box. Enjoyed light refreshments in the clubhouse afterwards which was very nice.

Arrived really excited to play this course as it looked great online, however it soon became clear that the course was under management as the practice green and every green on the course was sandy and a waste of time putting on as the ball bobbled and kicked when running on the greens, but I am sure the greens will be in good condition after this treatment. The course in general I found hard to grow any attachment to, as many of the holes lacked character and I found myself wondering if I had already played some holes as they weave back and forth next to each other. It was not until the 12th when things got interesting and the course swings uphill to great views of the surrounding area. My favorite two holes are probably the 17th and 18th, as the 17th has a drivable green alongside water and the elevated tee shot down to the green next to the clubhouse.

The first time at Gloucester Golf Club after finding a good deal online. Arriving at the course was greeted by electronic gates that opened to a lovely drive up to the clubhouse taking in views of the course that awaited. There was ample parking, with a club shop and bar, everyone we met was very friendly. Decided to hit a few balls on the driving range before starting the round, the driving range was reasonably priced and has two tiers with plenty of seating. The range was not the longest and the only bad point was that the range balls that were dispensed from the machine, a few (less than 10 out of the 50) balls were badly damaged or unusable as they had deep cuts in them. The course itself I really enjoyed and will be back to play again and again. The front 9/10 holes are superb and flat before taking on the steep uphill drive on the 12th hole named 'Cardiac Hill' this is where the course climbs up hill and you are greeted with great views while playing the back to back par 5s. The 15th is a nice elevated tee shot which is always fun with a wide fairway in font of you. The 16th allows you to give your driver a rest as it is a nice and fun par 3 with an elevated green with what can be described as a moat around it. Arriving at the 18th tee you can see the clubhouse below and is again an elevated downhill tee shot down to the green next to the clubhouse. Overall I really enjoyed the course and found little to fault, the tee boxes were well looked after along with the fairways and the greens, friendly staff and members, great views and all for a great price.
