Members went north, prices came down, average players treated like peons.

I am not a good enough player to spend $89 for a round of golf, so come May when the weather gets hot and a lot of members head north, the prices come down like all the courses. I took advantage of the lower rate and played my first round of the year at Heron Creek. I brought water with me but forgot the paint thinner. Played the Marsh on the front nine and the first 3-4 holes I got white paint on my hands as I reached in the cup to retrieve my ball. Apparently someone decided to put a fresh coat of white paint in the cups, but why while people are playing. Now to the back nine on the Creek Course. We get to the par 5, 4th hole and on come the sprinklers. The group in front of us were just approaching the green and there was a group behind us, so why the heck would anyone turn the sprinklers on in between groups of play. With the breezy conditions, you couldn’t even get close to the ball without getting soaked. I called Nick in the pro shop and he said he would contact someone to shut them off. We sat there another 5 min and no one shut them off. The group behind us already teed off and hit up on us. We ran got our balls, got wet and drove to a dry area to continue play. Now we get to the 7th hole and the sprinklers were on there too. Again I called Nick in the pro shop, explained the problem again and informed him that no one ever shut the sprinklers off on the 4th. We waited a few minutes and nothing was done. Drove thru the sprinklers to retrieve our balls and got soaked again. Don’t know if anyone ever shut them off. Don’t waste your money at this place...go to Myakka Pines or Riverwood where it is professionally managed. I forgot to mention, it took 4 hr 40 min to finish play and not cause it was backed up.

Wake Me Up !!!

Slowest play of the year. Courses are packed and normally slow this time of year, but this was the worse. 5 hours. Foursome two in front of us were slowing everything down and no ranger out there to push them. Pathetic !! Luckily starter sent us out 20 min early or we would not have finished before it got dark.
