Palmbrook Golf Club
Played On 01/06/2024As slow as molasses in January
I had high hopes of a good place to play until the round got going. Two and a half hours for the front 9 and I had enough. Player assistant on the course, but that obviously was of no help. And as seems common at Sun City courses some muppet hits through us on 2 of the first 3 holes with the old dumb as a box of rocks comment of that is 40 yards father than I ever hit it in my life. Muni-mentality sadly.
Sun City South Golf Course
Played On 01/02/2024Fabulous course conditions!
Over-seeded fairways, green surrounds and greens were in excellent condition. In my experience as good as Augusta National! Course layout is quite good for the age of the course, including well placed bunkering. Some greens are challenging, but overall are very manageable even if you don’t play the course often. It is a great course for the money!
Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia
Played On 12/30/2023Pace of play is very poor.
Pace of play is poor and in my mind is because the skill of golfers is quite low and skill level course requires is quite high. Par 3s are show stoppers. Fie example, one 150 yard par 3 had 3 foursomes on it, including my group. I would like to play here more, as it is great design, but always leave feeling worn out from the pace of play.
Wigwam Resort - Red Course
Played On 12/29/2023Always a favorite when I am in the area
Wigwam is a top shelf golf experience from staff, to course layout and condition. My favorite is the Red course…maybe be cause I love the challenge always seem to play well.. Gold is a monster of a course with length and challenge, but I feel plays shorter than the yardage. Not played Blue much due to short yardages.
Sun City South Golf Course
Played On 12/27/2023Great course…muppet behind us kept hitting into our group
Great course layout and conditions. Overseed was lush, but could have used a cut.Pace of play was VERY slow. Staff were business-like, but seemed to be understaffed as could not come out to address a player that kept hitting the “best shots of his life”. First one was straight through our foursome as we were putting and finished 50 yards later. When addressed on the next tee he said he was 230 out and had never hit his 3 wood more than 225 in his life. He then proceeds to hit into us in next fairway before we had all hit our second shots to the green. When addressed more firmly at the next tee he and one of his playing partners were offended that we were so upset. Two holes later the group hit into us again…pro shop said they would send one of the girls out, but do not think this actually occurred. Disappointing that muppets like this have no respect for safety, let alone basic golf etiquette.
Wigwam Resort - Gold Course
Played On 12/26/2023Great course layout…greens unexpectedly slow
I love the design/layout. Plays shorter than the yardage as hitting fairways was rewarded with nice rollout. Pins were diabolical on a number of greens. Perhaps because the Patriot All-American event was just a few days off. That said, greens looked closely cut, but were very slow so rated course conditions as 4*.
Wigwam Resort - Red Course
Played On 02/06/2023Another very enjoyable golf experience on the Red course
I always play the Red when I am in the area as it delivers a quality golf experience. I am a low single digits handicap and pretty particular about courses I play. Staff inside and outside were great, course in great condition for February and pace of play was a pleasant 4 hours. Sand in bunkers was deep and soft and expect this was due to new sand, which always takes time to settle. Over-seed is in very good order. Green were in excellent condition and rolling true. Driving range was on mats, but to be expected this time of year with level of play.
Mount Vintage Golf Club - Chester Course
Played On 07/28/2020Staff were very unprofessional!
Called ahead of booking to ensure greens would not be under maintenance. Arrived to find greens looked like it had snowed due to the amount of sand on them. Pro shop response was they are not that bad really. Was then told that one par 5 was closed due to heavy rain...just skip it and take a par. His response was that we were the first person in 3 weeks to complain about the hole closure.
I mentioned the greens issue to the staff person out by the carts. Same response as in pro shop. Then said would you not be annoyed if you called ahead to ensure greens were in good order and then found them having just been heavily top dressed with sand? Response was go play somewhere else if you don’t like it. I responded with... what kind of a response is that considering you are representing the golf club. He just walked away and started clapping his hands.
In my mind the staff could easily have apologized for both the condition of the greens and the hole closure and offered some form of complimentary substitute. Examples being, free range balls and to replay one of the other par 5s In place of the close hole since we pretty much had the course to ourselves. We decided ourselves to replay the par 5 18th hole.
Great Eagle Golf Club
Played On 1/4/2013Don't spend your time or money because the course sure doesn't spend any time or money on maintenance.
What a pity. Someone has designed a nice and challenging golf course, but there is little, if any, maintenance ever done to the course. I only paid $22 for my golf, but it was not worth the money. My recommendation is that if you want to spend this amount of money, go to the Sun City courses and book their twilight rate, which is the same money and better maintained courses.
