Course in decent shape for this time of the year. Horrible pace of play, the ranger need to do his job and keep things moving.

Nice course layout, in a ok shape for this time of the years.
fairways are good, greens need to be repaired.

Pace was ok until I it a foursome of Japanese guys that played like each stroke would be their last one...

Please have a ranger go around and have people keep-up with pace.

First time playing at Sportsman and a great surprise.
Nice 9 hole course and in a good condition for this time of the year.

Not a lot of water in play, but challenging greens.

Will definitely come back in the summer.

Pace of play is horrendous and the staff could care less. Called it quick after 4 hours and 13 holes.

Note the course is also in a surprisingly bad condition. Tee boxes and greens were a mess, also a lot of bald spots.

It’s still early by Chicago standards, but the course was in a good shape. Pace of play was good and staff ready for the season.

3 hours to complete the front 9 is ridiculous.

Everyone on the course was slowed down by an idiotic 4 some, with no skills whatsoever and of course playing the back tee to enjoy their round to the max.

The ranger couldn't care less and let that circus continue all afternoon despite all other groups complaints! He just took a nap under a tree smoking his cigarettes.

Course conditions are poor right now, like most courses in the area that suffered from July floods.

Seems like Buffalo Grove is trying had to shutdown this place to claim the land and build some condos.

Not sure what was going on, but it took us 3 hours to complete the front 9. there were 2 groups waiting at each tee box.

Next time, put a starter in place and have a ranger police all that mess.

This course is a disgrace, never see a course in such a bad condition!

This used to be a 18 hole couse that get transformed to a 9 hole.
Not a bad thing if the owner takes care of the remaining 9, but they don't.
The layout is super strange, making you walk almost 18 even if it's a 9... you'd better have a cart.

Talking about carts, most of them are defective (flat batteries), the guy at the pro shop was kind enough to save me few bucks and the pain of being stranded.

The course itself is awful, looks like it hasn't been maintained in weeks, fairways and greens haven't been cut for at least 10 days. Dandelions all over the fairways, bunkers were full of weeds.

we had a couple of rainy days, so course was cart path only.

Still a couple of carts worked. I was stuck behind a 5 some of drunk kids, skidding all over the place.

Of course, no ranger.

My 2 cents, either the owner care and needs to shutdown the course immediately until things are back in order or just sell the land, and build some extra condos, it'll be a better use of his money.

First time there since they changed the layout. A lot of trees have been removed, so the course is more opened.

The ground was incredibly hard and dry for early May.

Good course overall, with a good pace of play.

One low point, the grumpy bear acting as a ranger needs to retire.

I recalled the Arboretum club as a very well maintained course.

The greens are in a terrible shapes, with a lot of holes and marks.

Buffalo grove golf course is a very good municipal course. Living closely I used to enjoy playing there.

My last experience was quite disappointing :(

The course was in a terrible condition, lot of ground under repair, lot of bad ground that should be repaired. The course obviously suffered during the winter and suffered a lot from this wet summer.

Pace of play was horrible, starter did a poor job managing tee times and grouping people for a better experience. Also, mixing walkers and riders contribute to make things worse.
