Panama Country Club
Played On 09/25/2019nice course but needs marking
After reopening following hurricane Michael, the beauty of the course is much diminished, but the layout is the same and the fairways and greens are in remarkable shape. My only complaint is that there are very few markings for distance so I was guessing about whether I was 150 or 170 because I don't have gps. If they would just put a 150 post or something it would be a great help.
Tiger Point Golf Club
Played On 01/29/2018great layout
with the 25mph wind and numerous water hazards scoring well was challenging but fun
Rocky Bayou Country Club
Played On 09/21/2016beautiful course
I have played many courses in the Niceville, Destin, Panama City area. This course was as nice as the best of them and better than most. The greens are in perfect shape and much faster than many in the area. Tee boxes and fairways pristine as well.
Lincoln Homestead State Park
Played On 03/17/2015will be better in the summer
In my opinion, the fairways should be redone in a grass that comes out sooner or, better yet, stays green through the fall, winter, and early spring. The fairways here stay brown until June and turn brown in late Sept. Greens were in good shape.
Blackstone Golf Course
Played On 12/30/2014fairway markers
the condition of the course was superior...level, well-groomed tee boxes, and the best greens in the area. But it is VERY hard to tell distances with few 200 markings and impossible to see 150 and 100 markers unless you are standing within 5 yards of them. Trying to determine distance was frustrating and slowed play.
Eagle Springs Golf Course
Played On 09/18/2014surprisingly good condition
I played this course in the spring of 2013 and the flooding had destroyed the fairways and greens. I gave it another shot this spring and it was much improved but still substandard. I played it yesterday and was very pleased with the fairways....thick lush Bermuda. The greens were also in good shape although a little slow as I believe they are trying to let them get fully recovered before cutting them ultrafast.
The Golf Club at Bluewater Bay
Played On 09/09/2014great fun if you can avoid the water
My wife and I played on Sept. 9. We played the Lake Course and the Marsh Course. If I have a criticism it is probably the difficulty of the first drive of the day. Fairly narrow fairway with OB on the left and trouble on the right over water with a dogleg which you aren't sure where to place the teeshot. I think playing it a second time I won't be as intimidated and I do intend to play it again! Fairways were in great shape, bunkers were raked and full of sand, and the greens were interestingly undulating albeit a bit slow.
Shalimar Pointe Golf Club
Played On 12/26/2012best course in panhandle
I think that for the money, Shalimar Pointe is one of the best courses in the Florida panhandle. The layout is challenging but fair, the fairways are in great shape with more hills than one would expect on the coast, and the greens putt true yet have challenging tiers and undulations.
Lakeview/Brookview at Boone Links Golf Course
Played On 11/27/2012fun course with challenging layout and undulating greens
The course layout was interesting with numerous shots requiring accurate placement of shots, but was open enough for midhandicappers to enjoy the course. The greens were well maintained and had a lot of undulation to make them a fun challenge.
