Santee National Golf Club
Played On 12/18/2022Fun Course
Santee National is a fun easy to play course. The greens were in excellent condition as well as the bunkers. The fairways were dormant but playable from anywhere. I stopped to play here on my trip between Charleston and Charlotte and would do so again.

Greens are in great shape, fairways and rough are good, fun layout, cart GPS is excellent. Wish I lived closer, would play more.

Played On 10/18/2022I really enjoyed my day but the greens have not recovered from aeration
Edgewater Golf Club
Played On 09/08/2022Extra club
The course would be excellent if not for all the pitch marks on the greens. Take an extra club on your approach shots because the majority of them are uphill and the ball is not rolling forward.
White Plains Golf Club
Played On 08/31/2022Its golf
First off, the greens were very good. Nice carts and grass in the fairway. For the money pretty good. The tee boxes needed cutting and areas off the fairway were really rough and unplayable. Its out in the country which is nice and QUIET. Unfortunately I got behind a group that would not let me through even though there were two holes open in front of them, but that is not the golf course's fault. At one point they were actually behind me. I hit a drive after they were clear and one guy came back to his tee a re-teed behind my ball. never in my 40+ years of golf has the group in front of me been behind me. Again, not the course's fault.

Course conditions were very good. The greens were fast and are tricky if you get in the wrong spot. Fairways were in good shape and the rough was not too penalizing. It is a classic design with no two holes alike. For the money it is a great value and the GPS system on the carts is excellent.

This is a fun and challenging course
The greens are in great shape and can be very tricky. The cart GPS is the best I have ever seen. I wish I lived closer.
Player's Ridge Golf
Played On 07/20/2021Its got the bones
This course has a very fun and challenging layout but course conditions are not quite there yet. This place is on a rebound from a previous owner's neglect but it is moving in the right direction. The greens are a little furry and bumpy but playable. The fairways and tee boxes are fine. There are some rough spots around the edges in places that are not in play. Once the greens come in this is a place that I would seek out to play again because of the course design. Still a good value for being outside and hitting golf shots.
The Tillery Tradition Country Club
Played On 11/18/2021Firm and fast
The greens are in great condition and the fairways are firm and fast. Bring your shag bag because the leaves are falling. Save your good golf balls for later. Staff was friendly and the clubhouse was very nice.
Lincoln Country Club
Played On 06/08/2021Nice greens
Greens are in good shape, Bermuda fairways are about half way in. First timers could use some guidance getting to the first tee.
Sugar Mountain Golf Club
Played On 09/02/2020Fun Course
I have read good reviews about this course and was looking forward to my round. I knew in advance the layout was different in that it has mostly par 3's and par 4's but wanted to take my dad to a course that would not be too long. When checking in the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming and we were off to the first tee.
The tee boxes were a little rough due to divots but the fairways and greens were in much better condition than I expected. They were in a condition that was just as good as a high-end club that I played earlier in the week. The fairways were lush and the greens were fast and true. The bunkers were considered ground under repair so it was lift clean and drop at the nearest point of relief.
The layout is narrow and misses are penalized. The greens are full size as well as most of the par threes. My only recommendation is to shorten some of the par 3's to make them a little more fun. The par fours are short but still a test. The mountain scenery is beautiful.
Adjust your mind and give this place a try. It is still golf, just a little different. The course conditions are worth it.

Cedar Rock Country Club
Played On 07/21/2020Fun Course
I have been wanting to play here for a while and after seeing they had hosted a CGA championship recently I decided to book a time. The front nine was an interesting layout with many elevation changes and some narrow landing areas. The back nine was fairly flat and wide open but still had quality golf holes. The fairways and tee boxes were in good shape and the rough was light and not very penalizing. The greens were in great shape but a little on the slow side. They could have been left that way because of the hot weather. Be sure to say "Hi" to the gentleman who lives on the left of the 10th fairway! If you hit in a ball in his yard he is standing guard so you can't enter and retrieve it!
I am glad you enjoyed your time. Ellis Maples did a great job with the layout! Please come back and see us soon. When the leaves change, its a beautiful venue.
Cedarbrook Country Club
Played On 09/11/2019Peaceful layout
Cedarbrook is a very nice layout that gently rolls through the trees of the foothills below Roaring Gap, NC. The course is a fair challenge for all skill levels but not overly difficult. The greens had just been aerated so I can not judge their condition but they still ran fairly smooth. Most greens had multiple tiers and sections. The fairways were in good condition but the tee boxes were in poor shape. Otherwise I would give the course a higher rating based on conditions and value. Overall, I would definately like to play this course again when the greens return to normal.
Tanglewood Golf Club - Championship Course
Played On 07/22/2019Interesting layout
Most people know this was the course for a PGA championship back in the 70's. The course is in very good condition. The holes are either long and difficult or short and tricky. A fun course to play, a great value, but kind of a hodge podge of holes with no real flow or course character.
Red Bridge Golf and Country Club
Played On 07/05/2019Interesting Layout
Overall this is a course I enjoy playing. At first I did not like it but I kept going back and it grew on me.The front nine has 3 par 3's, 3 par 5's and 3 par 4's. All the holes are challenging but the penalty for some slightly missed shots on some are too severe. The back nine is more traditional and fun. The pace of play was slow this time because it was Friday after July 4th and the course was packed. Normally the pace of play is very good.
Olde Beau Resort & Golf Club
Played On 07/18/2018Different golf
This course is in very good shape but the layout is different than most courses you will ever play. There are many blind shots and elevation changes. The greens are in great shape and are not too difficult. The challenge here is finding comfort off the tee and on approaches. Some of the penalties for a missed shot are very severe. I will play here again because I like the challenges but this place is tough for most golfers.
There are some nice views of the mountains and the green with "Olde Beau" is spectacular.

Played On 06/25/2018Diamond in the rough
Staff is extremely friendly, the golf carts have "character", a Tin Cup driving range, and an underrated course layout make this a diamond in the rough. If you have tees the tee boxes are fine, roll the ball in the fairway and you will get a good lie, hit the green and you will have all the challenges you'll need. Miss the fairway or miss the green and pay the price. A good course for practicing your game and a decent bang for the buck with the right attitude.
Monroe Country Club
Played On 06/21/2018As advertised
I have read most of the reviews and have wanted to play here for a while. The course is a nice player friendly course with some very challenging greens. The back nine has an extremely pleasant layout in a definative parkland style.
