Wild Rock Golf Club - Wild Rock Championship Course
Played On 11/13/2015Wide expanse
When I get to play this course at this time of year, I feel like I own this place! The summer tourists have gone and they start catering to the locals by throwing us a bone on GolfNow, to which I gladly take a bite of! This course has wide fairways, but can be bit long on a few holes (#10 is a killer!). They do a great job of cleaning the leaves and the greens are very good for the time of year. Make sure when you get on the greens to turn back to admire the view. Walking is not an option here. No bev cart at this time, but they forewarn you prior to leaving the clubhouse. Best course in the Dells area!
The Castle Course at Northern Bay Resort
Played On 11/04/2015Off the Beaten Path, but worth it!
Golfing here can be a great deal of fun as they have several replica holes from some famous courses - two from Augusta National, Oakmont, Bay Hill and others, but the funnest is hole #10, a recreation of TPC Sawgrass' #17. We were behind a slow foursome whom had won a round at a benefit and after catching up to them on the last few holes on the front 9, were unable to get past them at the turn. We ended up playing hole #10 a second time, which was fun and finally got past them by skipping a hole, then coming back. Some marshals should have pushed them, or at least inform them to let others go by. We were able to finish the last hole just prior to twilight, which is Arnie's BayHill hole, a wonderful finish. I hope the foursome behind us were able to finish!
Cold Water Canyon Golf Course at Chula Vista Resort
Played On 06/15/2014Two differing 9's
The front 9 has some challenging holes and plays a bit tight from the 3rd thru the 8th. The 9th and the back nine open up and becomes a links style course. My favorite hole is the short par 4 3rd hole which goes right and uphill to a small green. Great for a fader of the ball!
The only problem is that this course during the weekends gets backed up and a round can be close to 5 hours. All in all, a decent course and if the price is good, I would suggest going, particularly if it's during the middle of the week.
Looking forward to a new clubhouse, as the old one burned down over the winter.
Devils Head Resort & Convention Center - Glacier Course
Played On 9/8/2013For the scenary alone, this course is worthwhile!
The fairways are pristine, however some of the greens and tee boxes are not in the best condition and need some attention. The views from the top of the course are really great, so take a look down towards Lake Wisconsin, but don't take your eyes off of some of the tight fairways!
