Gillette Ridge
Played On 10/21/2020Challenging. Good value, good condition
More challenging than most Palmer courses. Some lengthy forced carries, and the usual Palmer course green-side safety bailout areas not as apparent. But very rewarding to overcome the front-of-green obstacles (bunkers, mounds, collection areas) and look at a birdie putt. Need to be “on your game” to score well. But you can have a great time in any case. I’d play it again. Worth a trip if you haven’t played it.
Fairview Farm Golf Course
Played On 10/20/2020Fun, player friendly, hidden gem, great value
First time I’ve played but won’t be the last. Excellent routing. Uphill holes, downhill holes, doglegs. Some holes with tree-lined fairways, some wide open. Greens in excellent condition. Great value. We played early on a Tuesday,, no pace of play issues. 6100 yards from the white tees, perfect for a 210 yard driver like me. Ladies like the 4800 yard red tees. A few blind tee shots but otherwise what you see is what you get. If you’re on your game you’ll get a good score. Loved it.

Played On 06/23/2019Great mountain course
Five stars all the way but with a warning to people like me who are a little out of shape. If it's cart path only there's a LOT of uphill walking required. Staff couldn't have been more friendly. Past reviews may show some condition issues but the course is in excellent condition this year. As to the course itself I found it to be an excellent design. When standing on the tee it's pretty obvious where you need to hit your tee shots, and where the trouble is. Fairways are wide, greens receptive. Any type of game works here. It's the type of course where if you're on your game you'll get a good score. And the views are magnificent. It's a very friendly part of the country and worth a visit. We stayed at an area Airbnb, of which there are many. Worth a trip
Ballyowen Golf Club
Played On 06/16/2018Not as good as last time
Played June 2018 on a Saturday at 11 am. Course conditions outstanding as usual. So the golf was great but:
Clubhouse staff and starter indifferent
Bathrooms in clubhouse unattended to.
No balls on the range, had to get them myself out of the barrel in the little shack. About 1/2 the balls were damaged/unhittable
Hitting stations on range not moved, no grass
We fell 1/2 hole behind and a 2some jumped in the gap on 13. We waited every shot the rest of the round. They were staff, were chatting with the attendants at the cart return area after they finished in front of us. Didn’t get our clubs cleaned
So the customer service left LOTS to be desired
Escena Golf Club
Played On 02/05/2018Great condition for the price
Played it from 6100 yds. I’d recommend that even if you’re a longer hitter. Greens are wide but not deep. Greens are in excellent condition, consistent. Fast but not scary fast. Really enjoyed it. Definitely worth a try if you haven’t played it. We play it often
The Classic Club
Played On 12/21/2013Beautiful, fun, challenging and fair
You get what you pay for here. Friendly and professional staff. Outstanding practice area. One of the very few daily fee courses where you actually do feel like you're at a private club. The course has some extremely challenging shots to the pin but in almost all cases there is a visible area very close to the green where you can choose to play it safe and still have a good chance for par. An excellent design; all levels of play can enjoy it. Can't wait to go back. Great job, thanks!
