Westchase Golf Club
Played On 11/03/2020Pockmarked Greens
Fun layout hampered by putting greens that while fast, suffered from indifferent golfers not repairing pitch marks. We were the 5th group off that morning and repaired a bunch of pitch marks on every green. Every green had a lot of ball mark damage; definitely taking putts off line.

This course is very close to being very competetive with other bay area courses. Fun layout and a varety of challenges on each hole. The staff, including the starter, is courteous and attentive. The course suffers from poor/insufficient drainage. First impression at driving range is standing water and muddy lies...The greens were punched maybe a week earlier but still were pocked enough to deflect the ball. No one appears to repair thier ball marks - I fixed 3-4 on each green. The bunkers were washed out with weeds and debris throughout. Looking forward to seeing this place again in the fall.

Everything was great. Course condition pace of play the greens ran true the fact that the course is open to begin with was awesome the only offputting thing was at the driving range, the attendant was very keen on making sure that you didn’t hit too many balls. Not sure what that’s all about. The listing said “includes range balls”.

Played On 02/29/2020Strange Vibe
Everything from checking in to starting was off-putting. I was part of a group of 4 that booked individually. At check in I was told that I would tee off at 11 instead of 11:16 because they "needed to make a threesome". I explained that I was with a foursome. What made this strange is the group behind us was a twosome followed by a single. I didn't appreciate that they were showing the left over tee-times for doubles singles around these times for abound $38 when I paid $65. My bag kept getting moved around by the starter(s). I've never been to a place where I couldn't take my play cart to the range. Bottom line here is while the course was in good shape and challenging, there are similar places where from start to finish you are treated like a guest and not a tee time.

Played On 11/24/2018No effort to manage pace of play
Left after 9 holes. No effort on the part of the staff to manage pace. Made the turn and there was a group on the green, one in the fareway and two on the tee box. Too many other places to play; don’t waste you money here

Played On 10/27/2018Rush rush rush
Valet parking....rush to get out of the car. Rush to get your gear. Shuttled to the cart guy who could not find your tee time on his sheet...my playing partner was so rushed that he left his phone and wallet in his car...did not realize that until he reached for a tip for the shuttle guy. Not a great reception and not the first time for me. Beyond that staff was great, course was great, facility was awesome. What would make this even better? Self park and a cart pick up or bag drop like the rest of the resort courses do it.

Played On 09/15/2018Bad Timing
Fairways in great condition. Greens were punched about 1-2 weeks ago but they were still covered with a layer of sand and did not hold or roll well. Staff was friendly and positive. This was my second time here and would prefer to self park; not because I'm cheap but I just don't want to rush getting my gear out of the car, get my shoes on, and make sure I have everything...touch with valets patiently waiting for you to clear out of your vehicle...

Played On 07/07/2018Pretentious
Granted, we've had a lot of rain. So cart path/rough only and flooded fairways and bunkers...In the best of conditions this is an average track. They were way overpriced for the conditions of the course.

Obvious work being done on tee boxes and fairways. They also have a membership drive so you can be a full member at a decent rate. Once they get to 750 they may go full private again

Played On 02/17/2018Fog Delay?
5+ hour round!!! Where do I start? With the starter of course…there was fog so they did not start the groups on time. So the starter began matchmaking; making 3’s 4’s etc...not a bad idea and as he explained he was concerned about pace of play. Then he stacked the groups up so there were 2 groups waiting on a 3rd group to tee off. The stacking was then exacerbated by some of the earlier groups being slow players…where was the ranger to enforce the pace of play; which - by the way - was the excuse that the start was using to launch groups quicker and combine groups. Ok, so I complain about the starter but he was very polite and helpful and doing what he could do to get golfers on the course.
So, pace of play…no one understands how to manage pace and that applied especially to the two groups ahead of us. Slow walking, carding 9’s and 10’s as they meander back and forth across the fairway, lining up that 1 foot putt, blasé blasé blah! Again no ranger but we did see someone in a cart bearing the legend “course expert” who, while nice and all, did nothing to speed up the pace. Never mind what that our group never was able to establish a rhythm (we lost our 4th after 9 holes and our 3rd after 14 - he had better things to do). Ok, general indifference on the part of some of the staff and why is the “pro shop” a bodega? Weird…
The course itself was in great condition. The cart guys were the best. The greens were rolling around a 10 and were awesome, the weather was great and my playing partner was my golf Rabbi. If you get a chance and have a lot of time, play this course, but not on a foggy morning. Will I play here again? No, its an hour away from home and I just don't want to gamble on another 5 1/2 hour round.

This was my third time playing and my slowest round yet. Not very typical, however, there was some very slow players about five holes up the backed everything up.
This seems to be a common theme with this golf club. I would like to have the club explain what their policy is to monitor pace of play and deal with groups who are adhering to good golf etiquette.
With the Club charging significant green fees surely they should deal with the individuals who are ruining the experience for all others in the course.

While some opine that this course has seen better days (built in 1921) I think that the best is yet to come. The course is populated by mature oak trees and is pleasing to the eye. Not a lot of water hazards but well placed bunkers, fast greens, and shaggy rough will test your skills. The food in the clubhouse is good pub food and the staff is friendly. On the down side, some of the bunkers do not have enough sand, yes me and my group found the sand on occasion, and there is no starter. You may find yourself behind a 5-some of members that may or may not let you play through. My experience on two of times it happened to me was that they played ready golf and my group was able to complete our round in a reasonable amount of time.

Played On 11/09/2017Not a typical FL course
Changes in elevation were the highlights of my experience; which could not be distracted by the 5-some (members) that Jack the starter had in front of us or the 4-some of members in individual carts that hit into us on the last 3 holes (our pace of play was 3:50) could detract from. I'd definitely would play again at that price but not more than that. Greens were around 11 and the Bermuda rough was...ouch!

Played On 11/08/2017Oh come on!
I've been playing this course for over 30 years, I learned here and I love playing here but I don't understand what they are thinking. They opened the course up to the public through GOLFNOW so they must need to generate revenue so why do they not act like they appreciate the potential members that come play there?
I arrived as a single. I booked my time about 2 hours before hand and picked a time 12:22 that I knew had a lot of empty space ahead of me. I arrived at the course around 11:50, checked in and was told that the t-box was open. I told the pro-shop attendant that I wanted to warm up first. I went to the pitching area and loosened up and when I came to the t-box it was stacked up. A 5-some on the green, 4-some in the fairway and another 4-some on the tee in my time slot. I came knowing that if I did not get matched up I would play through a couple of groups well ahead of me; what I did not anticipate was 3 groups. These groups were all members that do not book a t-time, they show up in their carts and off they go.
This is not the first time I've seen 5 and 6-somes on this course and usually the pace of play is good enough for a twosome, they play ready golf. I've caught up to these groups time and time again and the explanation is always the same, there's several groups ahead of us, and since they are all members they are indifferent.
I went back to the clubhouse, got my refund and no golf for me today! I should have booked somewhere else!

A short, challenging course (6400 yards from the tips). Excellent condition with moderately fast greens. Lots of trees guarding the flanks and some strategly placed bunkers that keep this cours challenging. But...bring plenty of water because there are no water coolers anywhere except the clubhouse. It's also rare that you'll see a beverage cart.
This is Tony the course owner. Absolutely baffled by this. WIll review with staff today. Email me at Tony@greenfield.golf. Would like to make this right with you. Tony
