Forest Dunes Golf Club - Black Course at The Loop
Played On 07/31/2017Cool Course
The Loop Black is fun course to play and easy to walk. The greens and fairways are hard and fast the ball sounds like it is bouncing off a slate pool table. Greens are much more undulated that I expected. Very difficult to gauge where to land the ball on approaches and chips. Fairways are generous but anything in the tall fescue will be a lost ball or punch out. Highly recommend using a fore caddie helps. The Black plays more uphill than Red Course and is a little harder walk. The hard ground can take a toll on your feet wear your most comfortable golf shoes. A must play course
Arcadia Bluffs Golf Course
Played On 07/30/2017Spectacular Course
Arcadia Bluffs Golf Course lived up to the hype. Staff was super friendly and were happy we were there. Club House is top notch and a the pre-round lunch on the patio was very good as were the views of course and Lake Michigan. Course was in pristine condition fairways are generous but anything off the fairway is trouble if you hit in the tall grass around each fairway good luck finding the ball, if ball is found very difficult to advance the ball. The greens are super fast and undulated, very hard to stop the ball and just have to tap putts. Play to front of greens. Very good views of Lake Michigan on almost every hole must hit a ball into Lake Michigan on #11. The bag pipe player and gallery on 18 are very cool. Expected pace of play is 4 hr 45 minute our group of high handicappers finished in 5 hours. The Marshals politely press the pace of play. I advise to just enjoy the views and the quality of the course and not get caught up on pace of play. We took advantage of the early Sunday 2:00 pm twilight rate . Highly recommend Arcadia Bluff a must play.
Bear's Best Atlanta
Played On 04/03/2016A good collection of Par 3's
Bear's Best is a nice course with a great group of Par 3's. Our group enjoyed the Blue/White Combo tee option. The course was in good shape a few bunkers needed some maintenance, fairways were good, and greens rolled smooth and true. Pace of play was good, marshals managed pace in a professional manner. Course provided a voucher for $1 drinks after the round and the members were friendly in the 19th hole.
Capitol Hill Golf Club - Senator Course
Played On 04/02/2016Capitol Hill is a premium golf complex
Capitol Hill is a well run golf complex all 3 courses are different and are must plays. The staff provides excellent customer service from the time you arrive at the course until you leave. If you play two days in a row course will store your clubs and have your cart loaded and ready to go when you arrive the next day. We had a 3 hour rain delay the restaurant was ready for the extra traffic, pro shop staff kept us posted on projected restart time. Our 2nd rd was rained out and we had no problems rescheduling. All courses are busy and the marshals do a good job of politely encouraging groups to keep the pace of play moving. Overall pace was good.
Legislature:
Course was in great shape it rained 2-3 inches the night before we played CP only but course was dryer than anticipated. Legislature has elevated tees and greens and rolling fairways, fairway bunkers are well placed. Back nine played more difficult than front. A great course.
The Judge:
The Judge winds through the Alabama River bottoms and it comes into play on several holes. Par 5's are long and difficult, Par 3's require shots over water. A good variety on Par 4s some tee shots have forced carry. The Judge was a little wet do to heavy amount of rain received in the area course is difficult but playable. Our group moved up one tee box from our normal yardage as course does play long. Condition was excellent shape greens rolled true.
The Senator:
The Senator was the easiest course of the 3 and the most fun to play. The links style course with most fairways framed by large mounds makes for some crazy bounces. Shots hit into heavy grass on mounds can be hard to find. The slopes and mounds can be used to your advantage. The Par 5 17 with forced carry over water on tee shot and 2nd shot was one of the best holes on the complex. Course conditions were excellent. I highly recommend a trip to Capitol Hill
The Bridges Golf Club at Hollywood Casino
Played On 06/14/2015Another Great Palmer Course
The Bridges was in great shape ( except for tee box on #12) greens had been sanded a few days earlier we were advised and received a discount. The greens still rolled OK. There is water and marsh on every hole. Though I felt the fairways were wide enough and allowed room to get the ball in the fairway. The course is routed through the marshlands and the bay is visible on several holes. The course is not overly long so you can get wedge in your hands. Long hitters may not be able to hit driver very often. Great Par 3's
The Oaks Golf Club
Played On 06/13/2015Pleasant Surprise
The Oaks was thought to be the lesser of the four courses in our package for a Biloxi golf trip. The Oaks was equal to the other courses we played. The greens were smooth and fast the quickest we played on our trip. The course was in excellent shape. The tree lined tight fairways with several forced carries made The Oaks a difficult test of golf. Really enjoyed the course. The clubhouse food is over priced and cooked in a microwave would suggest going off course to eat.
Shell Landing Golf Club
Played On 06/12/2015Beautiful Course
Shell Landing is a must play if in the Biloxi area. The course was in pristine condition. The course winds thru the marshland that provides great back drops and beauty to the course. Greens were excellent smooth and true. We did have multiple rain delays, course drains well but it was difficult to hit out of the rough when wet.
Magnolia Grove Golf Club - Falls Course
Played On 06/10/2015Lives up to the hype
Had been looking forward to playing a RTJ course for several years. We played both The Crossings and The Falls at Magnolia Grove both lived up to the hype. A great collection of Par 3's. Both courses were in great shape greens rolled true. The bunkers were truly one shot penalties as the fine sand made it difficult to advance and led to plugged lies. The starters were friendly and helpful. Lunch at clubhouse between rounds was superb, I highly recommend the chili dog. Looking forward to playing more RTJ courses in the future.
Thanks for the great review! We're glad you enjoyed your time at the course and we hope to see you again for another fun round!
