Pine Brook Golf Links
Played On 09/12/2020Not as bad as some folks say
I played yesterday morning about 9am. I was expecting a fairly slow round since there were a lot of folks there already - and that was kind of the case. Took me about 4 1/2 hours to play (was paired up with a threesome), but that wasn't too bad.
As for the course, itself: well, it was in "ok" shape. The fairways do have some dry spots and the tee boxes on several holes are pretty much dirt. But it wasn't anything that was too much of an annoyance. For the golfer who is out there just trying to break 90, this is a good course. If you're a single digit handicapper - probably not for you.
Now, with that said, the things I do like about the course are 1: layout. 2: accessible greens. 3. occasional challenging approach shot.
This course works well for me because you CAN miss a fairway and not be in "jail" or lose your ball. You can certainly lose balls here if you tend to hook or slice really bad. But if you miss a fairway by 2-3 yards, you'll usually be ok here. I like that.
The greens are probably C+. They roll pretty well. A couple of surprising breaks. They did firm up a bit in the afternoon. And they're mostly in good condition.
Overall, this course is probably a little nicer than something like Sweetbriar or Raccoon Hill, but not as nice as a course like Shawnee or Big Met.
For $41 on a saturday with a cart, seems like a pretty nice place to play. And if you're just trying to break 100 - this is definitely friendlier than any of the metroparks courses.

Very well kept. Greens rolled nicely. Pace of play was good. I played in about 4 hours. Fairways all in good shape. For $38, not a bad deal at all.
It’s a tough course if you miss fairways though. Some of the holes are fairly tight driving holes. But if you can keep it in the fairway, it’s a great course.
