Wyboo Golf Club
Played On 07/04/2016Wyboo is remote but WY Not!
My wife and I played this course and found it challenging, interesting and offered a fair advantage on the various tee boxes, very nice. The layout allowed one to push it hard off the tee if you desire a little risk or play to a spot for safety. We enjoyed the play on Independence day for a mid-morning round on a day in the upper 90's. There was drinking water on the course and simple snacks and sandwiches in the snack bar. The practice facility was first class, the course is well marked and maintained. The big drawback for us was that they had just aeriated the greens recently so putting was a little rough, but all in all we enjoyed this very quiet good pace of play course. It was worth a bit of a drive to get there, try it you will like it.
Santee Cooper Country Club
Played On 07/03/2016Cooper is the best!
My wife and I played this course for the first time, in mid-morning, with temperatures in the mid 90's. The course was by far our favorite for all the courses that we played in the area. Ladies get a fair but ample lead vs. the men's tee, the course is absolutely beautiful, well maintained, cared for and just a pure pleasure, with challenge as much as you want and reward for your good behaviour as well. We loved this course, the only drawback was the lack of food and beverage at the course. There was a sign on a portion of the building for Snack Bar but nothing open while we were there. If you play here, bring your own refreshment.
Mohican Hills Golf Club
Played On 07/24/2015Mohican Hills is a treat!
When you find a farm country golf course you expect less than great conditions, Mohican Hills will Bust that theory wide open. This is a great track, nice layout, not a boring or redundant pair of hole on the hole course. Scenery was great, despite weeks of a lot of rain the course was in great shape. The staff were all wonderful cheery hosts and made us feel welcomed. The greens were great, they have consistent and challenging undulations and you have to read them. It is not overly long, women get a good and fair advantage. Like they said about Mikey, "try it, you will like it." Great value!
The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes
Played On 04/09/2015Great Young course, EXCELLANT VALUE!
HH Lakes was an outstanding choice and I will be telling all of my friends about this one. I played with my wife, it was great because women get a generous tee from the men's tees. I liked how the men's tees usually afford you the opportunity to turn up the driver volume with a boom while the approaches are well guarded and challenging. Many of the par fours are long and challenging. I loved the layout, the course needs some maturity, but don't let that fact bother you at all, it is a GREAT place to play. Oh, the clubhouse is temporary, but serves your needs just fine. Love this course. Great practice facilities as well.
Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run
Played On 04/07/2015Nice course in need of a superintendant
This is a nice layout and design, mostly tight fairways that lend to accuracy, but only when you choose such. The fairway turf seemed fine on this warm, overcast to clear morning, the problem is the greens and the tees. Two of the places on the course where we spend time standing and analyzing, the tees had severely inconsistent turf grass, the greens had poa patches and they were slow. I paid their $80 for the good Hilton Head course and experienced the Average Public course in Ohio. Oh well, memories of home with Palmetto views. I bet fellow Buckeye, Jack, would not be happy this is called Golden Bear.
Excellent review. Surprised that the snack bar wasn't open when you were there. We had the first tee time during the week a few days before you and the guy running the pro shop also tended the snack bar.
