Oakridge Golf Club
Played On 10/28/2021Nice course
Nice golf course, a bit up & down as some of the holes are very similar but overall a very pleasant game.
Cannock Park Golf Course
Played On 10/14/2020Poor course
First & last time I will play this course! Every hole was on temporary greens when there was absolutely no reason for it, not particularly wet. Temporary greens were dreadful so this was not a true test of golf. Dog walkers all over the course so didn’t really enjoy the game!!
Hilltop Golf Club
Played On 10/03/2018Good value but tees and greens need attention
Have played Hill Top a few times before and overall the course is OK, however the greens were very patchy with a lot of moss and burnt grass so accuracy was not good. Also the tees were quite long, however the course has a lot of interesting holes and as a 'pay and play' course is fine. We paid £11.00 (including Tee off's booking fee) so VFM was fine. Buggy hire was £20.00 (my playing partner has a dodgy hip!) so overall a fair course, a bit hilly in places but overall OK
Abbey Hotel Golf & Spa
Played On 08/22/2018Disappointing course
This was the first (and last) time I have played the Abbey course. The pace of play was fine but overall the course was a disappointment. Firstly its set in a housing estate which to my mind is not conclusive with a pleasant game of golf with residents watching you play on some holes and walking their dogs! The bunkers had sand but it was very hard and you struggled to get under the ball. Most of the ball washers were either broken or were dry and there were no benches anywhere on the course if wanted to sit down,. The course was fairly uninspiring and was a flat parkland course. On the upside the greens were fairly true and the fairways reasonable but the course didn't feel well maintained. We paid £20.00 per round which was not at all good value when compared to other courses we have played recently. Overall not a memorable course and we wont be going back.
Stratford Oaks Golf Club
Played On 08/02/2018Lovely parkland course
This was the fourth time of playing Stratford Oaks, the last time the greens had been affected by some sort of fungus so were in a terrible condition. I am pleased to say that this has now largely been eradicated and the greens were in nice condition. As with most golf courses at the moment the fairways were dry and scorched but at least you get a lot of roll!! Bunkers were well filled with good quality sand and there were ball washers on each tee (all full). The course is a traditional parkland so nice and easy to walk with no hills and fairly wide fairways. All in all a very pleasant course which I will definitely play again.
Ansty Golf Club - Championship Course
Played On 07/23/2018Nice course even in the heat!
This is the second time I have played Ansty. The course was very dry but the greens had been well watered and were in good condition given the extremely hot weather. Very few golfers on the course so pace of play was down to us. Plenty of interesting holes, if there were a few up and downers!. Bit of a climb for the first hole and maybe one or two other holes could be a bit challenging but I enjoyed the round (even if it was 29 degrees!) All tees had ball washers but sadly all were dry and well worn. Some good benches around the course and overall a good course and well worth the money.
Brandon Wood Golf Course
Played On 06/20/2018Greens appaling!
Have played Brandon wood on a number of occasions and have mostly enjoyed the course but on this occasion I was absolutely appalled at the state of the greens (or browns!). Most have not been watered for some time so most of the greens have turned brown. Also they have slit scarified the greens for some unknown reason so on a number of greens there are large open slits that make putting almost impossible. The course is lovely but the dreadful state of the greens made it a most disappointing game and I will not be back soon. As a footnote spoke to two members in the car park who told me that the green-keeper has recently been sacked - not surprised!!!
Brandhall Golf Course
Played On 06/13/2018Interesting course with excellent greens
Second time I have played at Brandhall and really enjoyed the course. It is a 'pay and play' course but the condition of the course was excellent, particularly the greens. Lots of interesting holes with quite a few dog legs and good amount of sand in the bunkers. Downside is that there are no benches if you fancy a sit down and no ball washers etc but overall was an excellent round of golf. Really friendly staff and excellent 'cafe' with what looked like excellent bacon/sausage sandwiches. When you arrive it looks a bit run down but the staff really do put a lot of effort into keeping course in good condition and there were plenty of course staff mowing and maintaining the couirse.
Brandon Wood Golf Course
Played On 10/10/2017Very slow play!
Having played Brandon wood on several occasions this visit was pretty poor. The booking team accepted our booking at 10.56 with no hesitation but when we turned up we discovered that there was a Seniors match in progress (6 sets of four balls) and that we likely to have a slight delay. This was an understatement! At each tee we waited around 10 minutes and all the way around we were delayed! the upshot was that it took 2.5 hours to do 9 holes!! After 12 holes we decided enough was enough and managed to hop across to the 18th hole and finish the game. Shan't be back in a hurry!!
Henley Golf & Country Club - Main Course
Played On 07/25/2017Long course but excellent golfing
This is the second time I have played Henley in the summer months and really enjoyed it. The course is long and coming up the 520 yard slightly uphill 18th hole you know it! The greens were lovely, if most were fairly flat. They were in the process of feeding with Miracle grow. The medium rough is fairly forgiving but the long rough is not! Some of the holes are a bit up and down but as a medium ability golfer I would recommend the course. The staff were very friendly and the food and drink range excellent. There is a good outside seating area with umbrella's so nice and relaxing after a long game! Enjoy!!
Copsewood Grange Golf Club
Played On 06/12/2017Strange game of golf!
This was the first time I have played this course and probably the last. No clubhouse, just a locked up shed! When I asked the one and only green keeper where we report to he said there was no one around and that you should fill out a form, put your money in an envelope and simply post in into a box! I said I had booked via TeeoffTimes so he simply said carry on! The course is only 9 holes so for 18 you complete the 9 holes twice. The course is flat and fairly easy. There is a small river/stream crisscrossing the course and the greens were in superb condition and the bunkers full. You have to park at a car park by the rugby club and walk to the course from there. There are no on course facilities and no toilets! Also it is very hard to find, DO NOT rely on the sat nav post code given!! Its situated off Allard way but blink and you'll miss it. If you want a simple game of golf no to challenging this could be the course for you.
Hollywood Golf Club
Played On 06/07/2017Lovely course and condition
Played Hollywood golf course (formerly Gay Hill) for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed the course. It was in fantastic condition and for the price was an absolute bargain! Pace of play was a little slow as we were playing on the only decent day in a week of rain so a lot of members were out. Very friendly members and bar staff and well stocked pro shop. The course itself is challenging but not overly so with a stream crisscrossing a number of holes. Very enjoyable game and will be back if I can see the same price again!!
Lickey Hills Golf Course
Played On 05/09/2017Very picturesque course
Played the Lickey Hils for the first time and really enjoyed the course. Some fantastic views and driving holes. Some of the greens were a bit "brown" but overall a great round of golf and will definitely come bacK!
The Stratford Park Hotel & Golf Club
Played On 04/11/2017Nice course but greens not good
This is about the 10th time I have played Ingon Manor and although I enjoyed the round overall there were a few things that detracted from the overall experience. Firstly the greens! They have got some sort of problem with them and although they have been treated, until the treatment works and the greens are back to good condition I wont be back. Also we had a four ball in front of us (we were a two ball) and their pace of play was appalling. We eventually looped around to play the 7th, 8th & 9th again just to give us something to do rather than standing on the tee for 10/15 minutes whilst they looked for their balls etc. Ingon Manor is a very picturesque golf course and I'll be back but pick your time with care!!!
