Westview Golf Club - Homestead/Lakeland
Played On 06/20/2021Westview Middle/Lakeland
First time playing this course in over 30 years. Wonderful to see this course again. Trees have grown in making fairways tight, and doglegs and some approaches challenging. True to memory, the course always seems to play uphill, so it is a full walk.
Course was in wonderful condition...pricepoint was fine with COVID pricing...pace of play was a little slow due to trees making balls tough to find quickly.
Staff was very friendly, and the burgers on the patio were just as memorable as they were 30+ years ago.
Eagles Nest Golf Club
Played On 08/17/2020Lovely Day at Eagles Nest
Course was in great shape. The 10 minute spacing of teetimes made for great pace of play - no waiting on the group ahead of us and didn’t see the group behind us. Made for a great experience.
Grand Niagara Golf Club - The Rees Jones Course
Played On 07/22/2020A lovely visit to this course
GN was such a treat today. Course has been well maintained and in great condition. Golfers respecting COVID guidelines as well as the course. I believe I only needed to fix 2 ball marks on the 18 greens which is amazing as I usually have to fix 2-10 ball marks per green on most courses I have played this year.
Separately - a big shout out to the management and staff of GN. I callled about changing my teetime given a change in schedule with my playing partner, and the staff were very understanding and accommodating to my request. This is not the first time the staff at GN has listened and addressed a request. Excellent customer service and wonderful that staff continues to be supportive.
The Golf Club at Lora Bay
Played On 07/16/2020Nice to see Lora Bay again
Returned to Lora Bay with some buddies. Last played 7 years ago. Course layout was better than I remembered. Not terribly busy with a midweek teetime. Pace of play and course conditions were both good. Staff could have been friendlier, especially given the premium price point. I feel there is better value in the area, though fun to return to “The Club”.
Angus Glen Golf Club - South
Played On 06/11/2020Getting Tired
First time playing the South Course in years. When it opened, it was a prestige facility with premium conditions. The golf fee is reduced significantly from the rack rate, though still over $100.
The tee sheet was fully booked though the course moved well. We played in 4 hrs and 5 minutes. The layout is still solid, though the conditions have diminished considerably. I fixed 4-8 ball marks per hole on the greens. Also, for mid June, the greens ran a little slow. I didn’t see a Marshall or any maintenance staff during the round. It almost felt like golfers didn’t respect the course from a conditioning perspective. Could be due to bare bones staffing and attention being paid by staff...not sure. Made me a little sad that the operation seemed to be getting tired.
Royal Ontario Golf Club
Played On 09/17/2019Could use some TLC
The course has a nice layout , with many holes having tight landing areas off the tee. Easy to donate balls if you’re not accurate from the tee. Greens were both thick and also filled with unrepaired ball marks. Very frustrating to see a good layout not respected by the staff and players.

Played On 08/16/2019Legends on the Niagara Golf Course - Ussher's Creek
Played On 07/28/2018Great facility
I always enjoy making the trek to Legends on the Niagara. It feels like such a departure from most golf courses - it’s isolated, no houses on the course, it has a solid practice area, and is typically well staffed. My experience over the past number of years is the facility is aging and could use some TLC, however the bones are solid.
I usually play the Battlefield course, as the parkland style suits my eye. Usshers Creek offered an attractive rate due aerification, so we gave it a try. The layout was really enjoyable. Length on some holes presented lots of challenge. I think the design is well thought out - challenging without being unfair. The course condition was as described, as the aerification was evident. The greens hadn’t been cut in a while, so speed was uneven. I expect the conditions will improve in the weeks ahead, making this course even more enjoyable to play.
Glad to hear you were able to experience our Ussher's Creek golf course. It's close to being healed so hopefully you'll be able to visit us again soon to enjoy our typical pristine conditions.
Dragon's Fire Golf Club
Played On 05/28/2018Dragon's Fire
This is a "golfers" type of course. Lots of walkers, a good layout, not a lot of frills. There is a basic clubhouse, a food truck set-up for basic food, and a practice area well-suited to a pre-round warm-up to loosen up, vs. a place to work on your game. My experience with marshals is that they are friendly, though the course can get busy, and there is not much effort to improve the pace of play.
The course is generally in good shape, the design mixes up the hole layouts to make it interesting, and the golf can be challenging requiring some thought. They take care to have washrooms on the course, which makes it more playable for female golfers (which my wife appreciates).
Royal Niagara Golf Club - Escarpment Course
Played On 05/13/2018Royal Niagara - Decent Bones...Needs some TLC
Played with my wife on a Sunday afternoon. We love the layout of this course. Course was wide open, which was great, though they can use the revenue from more golfers to invest in course maintenance. There was no cart service, so no food or beverages while on the course. Also, no washrooms except at the clubhouse... not ideal for female golfers.
We are on it each day, divots and ball marks. Thanks!
