Talking Stick Golf Club - Piipaash Course
Played On 09/18/2014Other than the mosquitos, not a bad place to play for a fun round
I've seen lots of bad mosquito areas, i.e. SE Texas and LA but they were as bad at Talking Stick as anyplace I've seen. Native areas were even worse. Course was in decent shape although greens a little hard, slow and rough. Hit 6 balls onto greens that rolled over the back. Bogeyed 5 of those so I wasn't impressed with the greens. Fairways are generous but surprisingly the bunkers are deep and difficult.
Also, any facility that serves ONLY Pepsi products is going to get a low food rating from me. Can't we at least have some alternative.
Talking Stick Golf Club - Piipaash Course
Played On 09/17/2014Bugs are bad
The mosquitos will eat you up but other than that, the course was fine. For a resort course, I was surprised to see the deep, difficult bunkers. Inconsistent with the rest of the course. Fairways were generous although greens were slow and hard.
Talon at Grayhawk Golf Club
Played On 09/16/2014Very difficult course
This course I thought was slightly easier than Talon but not by much. Deep bunkers and undulating greens added to the narrow fairways to make for a difficult golf course. I'm a decent golfer but this was too hard for me.
Talon at Grayhawk Golf Club
Played On 09/15/2014Very difficult-not much fun
This course was so difficult that it really wasn't much fun to play. Greens were slow and so difficult with the undulations that getting up and down was almost impossible. Bunkers are very deep and hard to get out of. Desert is unforgiving. Fairways are NOT generous. Played as part of a tournament but would not come back and play for "fun". Course was in good shape but it's just too difficult for me. Also, temperature was 106 that day
River Crossing Golf Club
Played On 04/06/2014Great course, range and restaurant
Greens are consistently the best in town so someone knows what they are doing. Equal to TPC Oaks at Texas Open time and better the rest of the year. Range is a hidden gem. Few practice facilities in town of this quality. Greens have subtle breaks and make this course harder than you think
