Moyola Park Golf Club
Played On 05/16/2018Under Rated Course
This course is extremely under rated - I have played it many times, twice in the past 3 weeks. The first time it was saturated due to the wet winter and a huge downpour as we were starting but it was still enjoyable.
The second time I played the course had benefited from a few days dry weather and was playing completely differently with a bit of run on the fairways and nice firm greens which ran at a really nice pace.
We got a perfect evening to play as there wasn't too many people on the course and played around in less than 3.5 hours for the 18.
If you haven't played here then I would put it on your must play list as the layout is fantastic and will challenge any player especially the couple of quirky holes near the end.

Played the course on a really fresh autumnal morning, the night before there had been a huge amount of rain. We were warned by the pro that the course was very soft in places due to this.
We went ahead and played with the knowledge that the course would not be in perfect condition however this was more than made up for by the stunning scenery on the front 9.
The course had matured significantly from the last time I played it 15 years ago and the growth of trees to now line the fairways makes it a much better course.
I can't wait to go back in the summer and play it when it's in it's best condition and see how it plays then.

This was my first time playing golf in this area and I was amazed at how much fun the course was. I played it on a flat calm and mild day so it was fairly easy to score well however I could imagine how difficult it can become if the wind blows, it would make the gorse lined fairways seem very narrow.
I would definitely recommend stopping by and playing this course, the staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Went out for a round here late on a Sunday afternoon and really enjoyed the course - it's an excellent layout and very well presented course with great drainage.
The tees and greens could've been a little bit shorter but that's possibly down to the time I was playing at with nearly two full days growth since they had last been cut at this early stage of the season.
With a little bit of TLC this could hold a big tournament as it could be setup to play very tough indeed especially if the rough was grown up a little bit.

I had never really heard of this place prior to attending a conference here, I played 18 holes in the afternoon in a 3ball in just about 3.5hrs.
I couldn't get over the scenery of the area with so many holes right down by the sea giving it a real Pebble Beach type feel to it.
The course was not easy even off the white tees and would be a really good venue for a Championship. The greens were in decent shape and I'd like to play in the summer to see how good they could be as there was still some growth required so early in the year.
I'd definitely tell any of my friends to play the course if they are in the area and even put it on your must play courses when in Ireland.

This course is one of the finest in the world, being the only course outside of mainland Britain to have held the Open Championship back in 1951 it really is one of the finest courses to have held the best Championship in golf.
Each hole is different and sticks out vividly in the mind and also have a unique challenge associated with them. I would definitely recommend playing a round here as you will treasure the memories of the course and the scenery for a lifetime.

This is a unique course in my eyes as the front 9 is set on a massive hill which is quite a slog to get up the first 3 or 4 holes but once your get to the summit you are really well rewarded with some outstanding 360 degree panoramic views over Belfast Lough and the surrounding areas. A really friendly and welcoming atmosphere made the day worthwhile and I'll definitely be going back some day soon.
