About

I used to have a handicap and golf in a women's league.....NO MORE! I truly golf for fun. I have a goal of how many pars I want in a round and that is it!! I take things one shot at a time. I love to do some visiting with the players I am with and I love to take pictures of courses. I am not against picking up a ball and moving it. When you don't keep score.....the game becomes a wonderful outing. It is a great walk......and certainly is not spoiled as the quote goes. I love to golf!!

Troubling

Course was in rough condition compared to the past. Hard to find a rake around bunkers. Some bunkers had little sand and were full of footprints. Greens were spotty and very firm. Putting was an adventure. No one at bag drop when we arrived... a bit of confusion as to what to do. Did get off on time and the pace of play was good. Price was reasonable for this time of the year but did reflect course conditions.

Course Under New Ownership

We have golfed at Club West several times over the last eight years. We have really enjoyed the layout of the course, especially the two elevated tees. This year we were surprised right from the get go. We arrived at the bag drop and noticed that the usual procedure was different. All the carts were in a different area and it was awhile before staff loaded our bags onto the cart. There was no signage and the staff member said nothing about the pro shop being moved. I walked to the location of the old pro shop to find it locked. Walked around to the restaurant and had to ask for the location of the pro shop. Was told it was a walk up the hill. Hiked up the hill and waited about 10 minutes at the pro shop to pay for our round as the only staff member was on the phone booking tee times. Had to walk back down the hill to get my husband and the cart as he had still not been told that the course had reversed the order of nines and that he would have to take the cart up the hill to begin on the back nine. The fellow in the pro shop was apparently also the starter but was not monitoring the order of tee times. I had to ask to see where we fit in the queue. There was no marshal on the course. It appears the course is making some major renovations but no one I asked would acknowledge that. Have to say that communication is sadly lacking at this point. The course was in good condition and the pace of play was reasonable. The course had a lot of litter in the rough as there were no garbage receptacles anywhere on the course. We are willing to overlook the shortcomings and give the new owners a chance to make the changes that they appear to be making. Would like to know for sure what their plans are.

Confused

Have played this course a dozen times. Usually the course is in pristine condition . It was cart path only
and the fairways were abysmal. The good news is that we played in less than 4 hrs. and the price was right. Staff was friendly.

This is a course that I love to play.

We were golfing just after the course opened after reseeding and so I had to review it as that. The greens were "woolly" as my playing partners described them but we expect that at this time. We have played here several times and other than this time of year it is a beautifully maintained course with two amazing signature holes from elevated tee boxes. We highly recommend this course to friends. Great value for the price!

A beautiful Course!!!

Tonto Verde is my favorite course in all the greater Phoenix area! It is in the far north of Scottsdale but is only about a thirty five minute drive from the 101 on Scottsdale Road and well worth the trip. The staff is very friendly, helpful and truely make everyone feel welcome....members or not. They keep the pace of play consistently. Fairways and greens are immaculate! Sand traps and water give the course a reasonable degree of difficulty but not so difficult that the average golfer becomes frustrated. Golfnow gives a great price for this course. My only fear is that Tonto Verde will no longer offer times to the public as it's number of members increases.

This course has a few good features.

The outstanding feature of this course would be their well maintained greens. The pace of play was excellent. That being said....the fairways are flat, open and in poor condition. The staff was friendly. I thought the price to play this course was unreasonable.

Nice course.......great cost!

This is a busy course in Sun City. It has some interesting features that can make the course some what challenging. There are strategically placed sandtraps and water is a factor on several holes. One of the holes has a stone wall in front of an elevated green. The course is well maintained. Staff is friendly. GPS is included. The course is priced reasonably.

Beautiful desert course!

This is one of our favorite courses in the greater Phoenix area. Desert Canyon has a variety of elevations and requires a moderate amount of skill to play. The course is in very good condition. The speed of play has always been excellent. We have played there several times and have never had more than a 3 1/2 hour rounds. Staff are very friendly.
