Only worth it at a Golf Now almost half price rate

I played this time after the recent severe rainstorms and the fairways were Extremely soggy, thus the GN $15 total cost rate which made it worth the.price for some on-course practice prior to the weekend’s tournament play elsewhere. The greens were in good condition, though, understandably, very slow, so I did not want to spend any time putting on them. I have played here several times in the past during good weather if I ran into a good GN rate option, and when playing 18 on full size a local course was not an option, but, though it is decently maintained, I would never play here at the standard $27 rate as the course is mediocre and significantly overpriced at the full rate.

Basic flat Muni

A straightforward simply designed course with no tricks, no water hazards, and not many bunkers in play. The medium paced greens rolled well and the fairways were in acceptable muni condition, though with the recent rains there was little rollout causing the course to play longer than it normally would.. Drove an hour to play here as the GolfNow rate was low and the surprisingly available 10:00 tee time was convenient.

Nice layout. Tight fairways.

A well designed and more difficult course. Good hole variety, except for the par threes, where hole distance Similarity was the issue, as from the white tees I only used a 7, 8 or 9 iron to hit close tee shots to all the flags. Greens were slow especially on uphill or flat puts, though they were in good condition. Fairways are very tight and thin with what appears to be a dry dormant bermuda. Bunkers were well positioned and often could have used more and less crusty sand. Many tee boxes are not flat so finding the best place to tee the ball can take some effort. A good deal of local knowledge would be a great benefit on par 4 and par 5 tee shots in order to avoid trouble and position your tee shots for the best approach. A fun course that would be much improved with fairways that would allow the ball to sit up a bit, but maybe not possible in this price range.

OK as a Hot deal

The course conditions are not that good, including spotty fairways and spotty/bumpy greens, as well as bunkers that need more sand and fewer rocks. Blind driving holes at 5 and 8 require local knowledge for the tee shot. OK for a quick 9 if you get a good Hot Deal rate, but never worth full price. Nice clubhouse and wait people, but amateurish kitchen producing C/C- food at B+ prices.

Not a great value

If you get a hot deal and you just want to play 9 on an average course this course may be worth it, but there are plenty of local courses that are a better value, especially considering DH’s shaggy and poorly maintaimed greens and fairways. The attached clubhouse is nice and new, but the food there is not very good and on the more costly side.

Rutty Ranch

I played here three times inJuly 2015 preparing for a tournament her. RR is a really good layout that is really hurt with poor conditions through the green. The fairways have constant low spots and holes created by tufts of grass and the constant low spots between them, caused by the lack of irrigation. The bunkers are also normally hard and crusty, and receiving little maintenance. On my last three trips to the ball machine there were no buckets, so I had to take the cart over to the range area and find some (one wonders why the staff does not check on this, and/or buy a few more buckets). The greens, however, were in nice shape, so it is a mixed bag..
