Bear's Best Las Vegas
Played On 01/29/2020Windy day!
Teed off at noon on an extremely windy but sunny day. The course was in great condition, with the greens in perfect shape. Greens were receptive of approach shots and putted true. Finished in 4hrs, and that is with lengthy waits on holes 4-6. Myself and two playing partners found the course forgiving, even with the strong winds.
Las Vegas National Golf Course
Played On 02/06/2019Left disappointed
This was third round in 3 days of a golf trip. This was the most expensive of the 3 and ranked well below the other 2 courses we played. Nothing special about the course. Greens were in good shape, bunkers could use more sand as they were quite hard. $1 beer after the round was a nice touch!
Thank you for providing very helpful feedback! We're sorry to hear that you weren't overly impressed with your experience with us. We will pass along your feedback to our management staff.
We played Primm Valley - Desert (bought a Groupon which I think is still available) and Boulder Creek - Desert Hawk/Coyote. See my reviews for these. I also played Chimera a few years back, and it was very nice as well.
Would you recommend any other courses? We are arriving in 3 weeks time.
Boulder Creek Golf Club - Coyote Run/Eldorado Valley
Played On 02/05/2019Great course but troubling greens
Of a 3 course golf trip, this was our groups favourite. The most challenging, unique and truest test of golf. Love everything about the course except the greens are in rough shape. Poa is taking over the bent and the mix was like playing plinko. Very bumpy and inconsistent. I understand this is difficult to manage until the poa fully takes over, so this is a warning to those expecting puttable greens. Everything else was fantastic. Loved the variety of holes. Playing his a few times is a requirement to knowing shot placement and strategy.
Primm Valley Golf Club - Desert Course
Played On 02/04/2019Solid test
Enjoyed playing the course. Used a Groupon. Full range was nice to oil the swing after no golf due to Northern winter. Greens were good speed, but some greens had damaged patches near the edges but didn't effect play. Each hole was unique. Would play again!
Encanto Golf Course
Played On 03/01/2017Treated as out of towners
Had the first tee time of the day at this municipal course, but our twosome was put off second by the unfriendly pro shop cashier so locals could get off before us. This bumped our tee off 15 minutes. Fortunately, the first group let us play through on #3. Greens and fairways in excellent shape, but the rest of the course was average. Long par 4s posed challenges, but no stand-out holes. For the $49 we paid, our money would have been better spent elsewhere and our patronage appreciated.
Lone Tree Golf Club
Played On 02/26/2017Rewarding round
Playing as a threesome at 11am, finished in 3.5hrs and never had to wait on the groups ahead of us. Great conditions, with wide forgiving fairways and large undulating greens. Long par 4s and challenging par 3s made for interesting and memorable holes and an overall enjoyable round.
Power Ranch Golf Club
Played On 02/25/2017Solid course worth a play
Playing as a threesome at 8am, felt like we were the only group on the course. Greens putted true and were in great condition, along with fairways and tee boxes. A forgiving course, with wide fairways and large greens where accuracy of approach shots are necessary for birdies. Lots of space between the houses too Would play again for sure.
Foothills Golf Club
Played On 02/25/2017Fast and smooth greens
Playing as a threesome at 2pm, waited on 17 of 18 tees for group ahead of us but still finished in 4.5hrs. Never saw a marshal, even though the course was backed up everywhere. This slow pace disrupted us from picking up any momentum. Greens fast and smooth, fairways and tees in good condition. Had difficulty after the round picturing the holes, as no holes were particularly memorable.
Las Sendas Golf Club
Played On 02/24/2017Fantastic course!
Played as a foursome, teeing off at 2pm. Course was interesting with lots of elevation changes, lengthy par 4s and short but challenging par 3s. Great scenery and excellent course conditions! Will definitely play again.
Scottsdale Silverado Golf Club
Played On 03/02/2016Not your typical desert course
Playing as a twosome, we were the third group off on March 2, 2016 at 6:45am which was 7 minutes earlier than our tee time. We finished in 3hrs. Great customer service upon arrival and at the conclusion of our round. It was our fourth round of our golf trip, but first in Scottsdale. It is not a mountain or desert course, but there are views of the mountain ranges in the distance. Although there was some desert scrub on some holes, it was more of a parkland style course. A few of the holes were near houses, but not as close as many other courses so we didn't feel surrounded by them. Course was in great condition, with consistent green speeds and bunkers. A few interesting holes with only the 18th standing out in my memory. Scorecard shows 6300 yards, but the par 5s are 3 shots for all but the longest hitters and the par 3s ranged in yardage which allowed for mid to long irons. With few forced carries, this is an ideal course for all levels. Great value for money ($45 on golfnow). We would play again at this price.
Southern Ridge Golf Club
Played On 02/28/2016Construction zone
Playing as a twosome, we teed off on Feb. 29, 2016 at 7:37am which was our tee time. We finished in 4.5hrs. We waited on every shot. No marshal to keep play moving. Not sure what is going on with this course. Appeared to be in construction mode as there were mounds of dirt on most holes but no grass on the mounds. As for the course conditions, they were mixed. Fairways and tee boxes hadn't been mowed in days. Bunkers were raked and played consistent. The greens were in good condition, as they putted consistent and true but on the slow side. The layout was very boring, with no interesting holes to speak of. Not a challenging course which is why I would recommend this as only a beginners course. We paid $39 (on golfnow) and this was a big mistake. I would not recommend this course to a true golfer. Also, two groups were playing music (rap and punk) which I don't have a problem with as long as it is kept to a reasonable sound level, which it wasn't.
We are sorry to hear that we did not exceed your expectations. Please email us at SouthernRidgeGC@outlook.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
Club West Golf Club
Played On 02/28/2016Back nine is the real gem
Playing as a twosome, we teed off on Feb. 28, 2016 at 1:15pm, which was our booked tee time. It took 4.5hrs to finish, as we waited on every shot. The only employee we met on the course was the bag drop guy who acknowledged it was slow but was nothing he could do. A marshal could have recognized a whole hole gap between some groups and got the offending groups to pick up the pace of play. We had lunch before our round and the food was great but there was no on-course beverage cart. The clubhouse was closed when we finished, and the only bathrooms were closed due to a plumbing issue. It would have been nice to have been able to use a functioning bathroom. This was the 3rd round in our 4 round golf trip. It was the stand out course due to the course conditions, scenic views and playability. The greens were consistent if not a little thin on grass, but good speed. The bunkers were raked and fairways closely cropped. The front nine was nothing spectacular, with the 7th and 8th holes being the best. Where the course really shined was on the back nine, in particular 15-18. Significant elevation changes and spectacular views make this a great course to play. With forced carries, and some tight holes this is a great course for intermediate and advanced golfers. Great value for money ($39 on golfnow). We would play again at this price.
Red Mountain Ranch Country Club
Played On 02/27/2016Interesting layout worth a round
This was our first round in a four round golf trip. We had a time for 12:43pm on Feb. 27, 2016, which was booked on golfnow for $49 pp. We warmed up on the practice area (range and green) before our round. Range balls are not included in the rate. As we were early, we informed the starter that we could go early if there were spots open. We had a great lunch (great food at affordable prices) and then the starter paired us up with another twosome for a 12:15pm tee time. We didn't have to wait on the front nine. Our playing partners quit after nine, so the two of us continued without delays on the back nine. Finished in 3:50. Afterwards, I asked the pro shop if we could play some more and was told to keep playing until dark which was very nice of him. The course was in great condition, with fast consistent greens (the best of the four courses we played). Bunkers were a little hard but fairways and tees were closely mowed. Each hole was different, which made the round very enjoyable. The provided course layout booklet helped with some of the holes with bends and elevation changes. The course was very challenging, as you'd expect from a Dye course. From 100 yards in is where the trouble lies, and you'll have to be precise to the many different green levels to have any chance at one putts. Overall, a very playable course for intermediate and advanced golfers but not so for beginners. I would definitely return at this price as it presented great value for money.
Terrific! Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Bear's Best Las Vegas.
