I haven't been in Maine in about 30 years and this is the first time with golf on my mind. After reading the reviews here on Golf Advisor, I decided to give Valhalla a try and wasn't disappointed. Roger was so helpful, patient and friendly - giving me directions during several calls I made, setting me up with Ping rental clubs, and giving me a rain check when the summer thunderstorm finally hit on the ninth hole. The course is in good shape and the greens are fast. You get your exercise walking as the course is fairly challenging at my skill level even from the whites.

The course was in great shape and the greens were fast. Pace of play thru the first four holes was good and then I caught up with everyone. One foursome let me play through on the front and one twosome let me play through on the back but it didn't do much good as I had to wait on every hole after that. Gave me plenty of time to take photos as the course can be quite picturesque with views of the water. Weather was a hot sunny day and there is not much shade on the course so bring your own shade and hydrate.

I really had a great day of golf at the Green Bay Packers home course. The staff was so friendly, courteous, and helpful. The course is in excellent shape. The greens were fast. But maybe fast due to the 90 degree heat - was so thankful for the cart and all the trees on the course. Some really beautifully scenic holes and who can complain with Packer logo on hole #1. Some confusion navigating around the course. Some slow players who took several holes before asking me as a single to play through. Absolutely fantastic clubhouse with a great view for post game food and libations.

Came back after work the next day to play the back nine. It was a hot ninety degrees and I was walking. Back nine is sort of like links golf - more open fields and not as many trees on the back. But it is still treacherous if you are not in the fairway. Course in good condition after the thunderstormy night. Greens in good shape also but a bit slower - probably due to the rain. The course layout on the back nine is confusing if you are walking - pay attention to the layout on the scorecard. I didn't play as well - probably due to the heat and the extra walking due to the confusion.
