Legends on the Niagara Golf Course - Battlefield
Played On 07/31/2020Great conditions, slow play
Conditions were amazing. 5 hour round walking which is far too long. Didn't see a single marshal on the course to speed things up. After tax and "convenience" fee it was $70 each .. not exactly a deal for walking the course.
Cardinal Lakes Golf Club - Heron Course
Played On 10/17/2017Phenomenal conditions
I can't stress enough how amazing the greens were. It was like putting on a carpet. Overall condition of the course was fantastic.
Hunters Pointe Golf Course
Played On 10/02/2017Still a great track
The wind was up as would be expected at a links course. You can tell the course hasn't been played much this year because of it's management uncertainty. They have continued to maintain greens and fairways though which means they're in excellent condition from lack of traffic. The bunkers however have been completely forgotten and should be treated as ground under repair. I still hope this course makes a comeback next year as I always enjoy playing there.
Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club
Played On 03/13/2015Nice course, but play too slow
It's a nice course. I've played it many times. course condition was pretty good for this time of year. What they really need is to put sand in the bunkers instead of broken shells and rocks. Easy to ruin your clubs with that stuff. Pace of play was close to 4 hours 50 minutes. That's unacceptable IMO. When the drink cart drives by more than the ranger you know something is wrong.
Kingsway Country Club
Played On 01/17/2015Nice course, could play faster
Four hour 20 minute round. Not the worst, but could be better. When the group in front never has to wait to make a shot and you do it gets a bit frustrating. When riding in carts there is no reason to be over 4 hours. Greens were amazing. Fast and true. Grass around the greens, not so much. Very tight lies and thinning grass makes for punitive chipping. One thing that didn't impress me at all were the tee decks. If any place should be even it's the tee deck. I would say over half the decks (deck #3) were very uneven, forcing everyone to tee from the only flat part on it.
Heron Creek Golf and Country Club - Oaks/Marsh Course
Played On 01/06/20154hr 40 minute round
It's that time of year again. Florida in the winter means slow rounds. I still don't understand why a round of golf ends up being more than 4 hours when everyone is playing in a cart. More people need to be told that when done taking your shot you should just get in the cart and go. No need to place your club back in the bag as you'll be going back to the bag within minutes for your next shot. Put the club back when you are getting the next club out. Another thing, drive away from the green when done. Don't sit there marking down your score.
Riverwood Golf Club
Played On 12/27/2014Very nice course
The weather was fantastic and the course conditions were very good. Pace of play was about 4 hours and 25 minutes which is nothing to write home about. It certainly could use a bit more marshaling to speed things up.
Tyandaga Golf Course
Played On 08/27/2014Good if your only choice
I thought this was going to be a great course considering I could never get a time that would allow for my free replay (had a coupon for it). Part way through I realized the only reason this course is so busy is because anyone living from Toronto to Burlington doesn't have much other choice for golf. With that said, the course was such a disappointment that I didn't bother with the free replay. If you like playing a course that never has a flat lie then this is it. I don't mind the odd uneven whole, but 14 of them? I have never seen so many balls bounce and roll to the woods when they started in the fairway. I also used my 3-wood from the blues and it still played short. The number of holes where the tee shot is blind is also a joke. I have golfed many courses, both links and traditional that offer challenge and appreciate a difficult course. I'm a 10 handicap and can see how this would be a very difficult course for beginners. If you don't live in the area and have other choices for golf, I would go there first. And no, this review is not sour grapes because I found it too difficult. I shot +12 which isn't bad considering the ball rarely stayed in the fairway. I just prefer to play golf where I can use my driver as that's part of the fun.
Royal Niagara Golf Club - Escarpment Course
Played On 10/11/2013Good deal as Fire sale
For a fire sale price of $20 this was a good deal. I would never pay full price though. When we got there our tee time was wrong by 30 minutes and they had also split up our group. The starter worked magic and fixed the problem (thumbs up for that). It's been over a week since we had rain and the bunkers were more like ponds. A few inches of water in each and sloppy muck for sand. Greens hadn't been cut and were terribly slow. Poor yardage marking (only 100, 150, 200). No sprinkler head yard markers, no GPS and no reflectors. Even with Pin Seeker I could only bounce a reading off the people ahead. Pace of play was too slow. 4hr 45min is unacceptable. People say 4.5 hrs is 'normal' and even that is too long. It should never go over 4 hours.
