The Club at Osprey Cove
Played On 12/26/2017Don't Play Here When it's a Windy Day
Even though the temps reached 50+ degrees, it felt much colder due to the extreme winds off the marshes. Also, I believe because they intended this course for homeowners, there are few signs to the next tee and no map of the hole/hazards on the card or on the tee box signs. I guess they just expect you to know. Makes for a tough course for a some time guest. Finally, don't play on Ladies' Day Tuesday unless you have PLENTY of time!
Laurel Island Links
Played On 11/14/2017A Consistently Good Value
We enjoy this course, as it is moderately priced and moderately challenging for the amateur golfer. We will be back and usually bring a neighbor when we play.
Laurel Island Links
Played On 06/30/2017Wet Weather Lately Has Hurt
This is a tough course to play when it's "cart path only" as there are many wide fairways (and I never seem to hit towards the path!). This was especially true on a summer's day in SE GA, when it was in the 90's with humidity to match. But everything under their control was great, and we do love to take the 45-minute drive from our home to play here whenever possible.
The Club at Osprey Cove
Played On 03/31/2017Very Good Neighborhood Course
We enjoyed this course and would have liked it better if there were some outline of the holes. We were unaware of some of the blind hazards, since it was our first time. But we would play it again and found it a good value by booking through a golf site. Fairways and greens are in pretty good shape considering the early part of the season when we played.
Laurel Island Links
Played On 03/05/2017Worth The Drive
We live in Fernandina Beach and although we have lovely courses here, we find the drive to Laurel Island well worth it. The greens are a little sparse but roll well, but that is the only negative. Conditions are good and the course layout is just challenging enough for amateurs of all ages. We are regulars here and recommend the course often.
Lakes Golf Course at Laura Walker State Park
Played On 02/03/2017A Beauty for the Money and Worth the Drive
We drive past several courses in NE Florida to play this course a few times per year. The fairways are in good shape and the layout is scenic. The greens are good but somewhat slick with the winter weather. Staff here is always friendly and helpful.
Laurel Island Links
Played On 01/31/2017A Wonderful Course Near I-95
We drive north from Amelia Island several times per year to play this gem in South GA. It's generally quiet but is being discovered by more and more folks, so play is a bit slower than a year ago. The views and scenery are lovely, and the challenges intermittent to keep everyone on their toes.
Queen's Harbour Yacht & Country Club
Played On 05/05/2016Meander Through a Beautiful Neighborhood!
We thoroughly enjoyed the sights along this neighborhood course. The homes are just lovely and the course is in very good shape. There were a few holes with forced carries that might intimidate the beginner, but intermediate (or above) golfers should find this a beautifully challenging course.
Omni Amelia Island Resort - Oak Marsh
Played On 04/11/2016A Marvelous Course on Amelia Island
Although we've lived here for 2 years, we hadn't discovered this gem until this month. Now we will return often and might even join on their annual program. We loved, loved, loved this course. Challenging but not overwhelming, with beautiful views of the marshes and wonderful oak trees on the course!
Jekyll Island Golf Club - Oleander Course
Played On 04/08/2016Pace of Play Was Unbearable
Although this was a nice enough course, I wouldn't return unless I was assured that they got a ranger on this part of the course. Oleander is adjacent to Pine Lakes and The Mounds, and I believe they might have rangers. We had such a slow foursome about 3 groups ahead of us that there were 3 empty holes by the time we reached hole #10. We gave up after 13 or 14 holes and went to the clubhouse in disgust.
Trident Lakes Golf Club
Played On 01/12/2016Not for the Faint of Heart
This course, particularly for the first-time-at-this-course player, is difficult, with many hidden hazards. Once you become familiar with the course layout, you could return to your average handicap here. It would be helpful if the scorecard showed the course layout, not just the hole layout, as many of the cart paths are not adequately identified (again just a problem for the first-timers). We did enjoy our round here in spite of these setbacks.
Bent Creek Golf Course
Played On 12/31/2015Tough Course for the Casual Golfer
Although I've played this course once before some time ago, I forgot how difficult many of the holes could be. Lots of places to get in trouble, and the course seems to play longer that the stated yardage. We enjoyed the course but might not return often due to difficulty.
Jekyll Island Golf Club - Pine Lakes Course
Played On 12/27/2015A Beauty on Jekyll Island
It's easy to see why so many folks choose Jekyll for a golf vacation getaway. With the three courses together on the island, you can almost always find a tee time. We were on Pine Lakes this time. The only negative was that due to rains it was cart path only and the fairways were a bit thick. Otherwise, it was an excellent round of golf on a beautiful December day!
A Beauty on the Windswept Marshes
On a residential course just south of Brunswick, this gem was worth the drive from anywhere around. We drove the nearly one hour up from Fernandina and were not disappointed. Although the winds were a little wild on our day, the temperature and humidity levels were delightful and we nearly had the course to ourselves on a weekday just after noon. We three loved the course and will be back again for sure!
Country Club of Orange Park
Played On 10/13/2015A Challenging but Manageable Beauty
As older average players, we found this course quite challenging for our now-shorter games. The homes and scenery were beautiful, and familiarity with the course should improve our scores. We would definitely play again and recommend it to good players.
Laurel Island Links
Played On 02/07/2015Fairways were tight lies everywhere
We enjoyed this course and found it a good value for this area. Due to winter conditions, fairways were sparse, making for tight lies everywhere in bounds. Greens were in excellent condition and play moved along in the afternoon when we played.
South/North at Fernandina Beach Municipal Golf Course
Played On 01/18/2015Good Value on the Island
Because this is a municipal course, it is less well maintained than the private courses on Amelia Island. But the value for the price is there, it's relatively easy to get a tee time, and the staff is courteous.
Hi GStrand,
Thank you for playing at the Country Club of Orange Park! We are happy that you enjoyed the challenge and scenery of the course. We hope you come back to play again!
