Meadowlark Golf Course
Played On 06/04/2023Great Shape and Excellent Pace
For the first time in my life I played a full 18 holes at this course in less than five hours, and on a Sunday afternoon no less. I wasn’t a fan of the prepaid online including a cart fee that I couldn’t change once I got to the course (I usually walk). However the course was in immaculate shape for a high volume muni course. Bunkers had plenty of soft sand and the greens were smooth and receptive.
Los Lagos at Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club
Played On 01/10/2021Mesa Linda on Sundays
It is difficult enough to get a tee time on the weekend these days, and at Costa Mesa that means you're in for about a 5 hour round. But for only $30 to walk about 15 holes, its not too bad of a deal.
The course was bone dry, which led to some pretty long drives, and the greens were rolling great. Unfortunately, we had to wait on every tee box on the front nine. After the turn, the groups were more spaced out and we were able to play ready golf

Los Amigos Country Club
Played On 10/21/2020Best Bunkers for a Public Course!
Los Amigos is a fun, easily walkable course that is excellent value for the price. Public rouse conditions are taking a hit right now because of so much play, but the general shape of Los Amigos was pretty good. Unfortunately, the greens were spotty, bumpy, and dying around the edges. The upside was that the fairways and bunkers were excellently maintained. After playing so many public courses with virtually unplayable bunker shots, it was nice to not take a stroke penalty for landing in the sand.
Los Lagos at Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club
Played On 10/14/2020Costa Mesa Los Lagos
Los Lagos is the longer course at the Costa Mesa complex. On the tee box there was a marshal who actually checked us in and made sure each group was waiting the requisite 9 minutes before teeing off. Some might find this frustrating but it actually prevented us from waiting on the group ahead of us at all the entire round.
The grass in fairways and rough was in pretty good condition, but there were a handful of muddy or brown patches. Los Lagos does have a lot of undulations which makes drainage difficult, so this was to be expected. What I was surprised by was how bumpy and cratered the greens were. Public courses are getting a lot of play right now, but every green on the front nine felt like putting on a minefield. Fortunately, the back nine was in much better condition.
Overall the experience was great and I can't wait to get out and play Mesa Linda next week

Thanks for the review Steve! Usually we are able to refund the cart fee if you decide to walk (even if you pay the riding rate online). I'll make sure our staff here is on the same page in allowing that refund to occur, just make sure to let the pro shop attendant know when checking in about the adjustment and we should be able to take care of you. Hope to see you again soon!
