Greens need work

This is a very nice course, and the majority of it was in pretty good shape considering the rain we have had....

However, many of the greens were beat up and 14 and 15 (i think) were so beat up and diseased that they were barely even puttable. You can tell they're obviously working on them, but they have a long way to go.

Overall, the staff was great and let me get out early as a single for their 5 pm deal and I didn't catch up to a single person.

I would play here again, but definitely wouldn't pay full price until they fix those couple greens.

normally great but....

I've played at Oak Quarry approaching 20 times and I love the layout, and the conditions are always great... until this week. The greens looked like they hadn't been cut in a week. Putting was impossible. Bunkers were not raked, and the tee boxes were not in the normally great shape.

I'm hoping they just had a bad couple days because you absolutely cannot beat this course for layout, routing, excitement, and views. I will be back to *hopefully* better conditions next time. I trust these guys will get it back on track.

As always, I zoomed through as a single in the afternoon in under 3 hours.

Weekday round....

I have played here twice: Once was during the weekend and it was a 5.5 hour round and the other was Wednesday afternoon and I didn't run into a single group the entire evening.

I took my time and still finished in less than 3 hours.

This course is in great shape. Rough is long on some holes which makes it tough to play from (and find your ball) but the fairways and greens are very well maintained. Its also an extremely beautiful course. There are some VERY tough holes (7, 9, 11 15!!!) and also some VERY scoreable holes (1, 4, 6, 10, 17,). The 1 handicap is the par 5 5th hole but is a par-able hole if you don't play like an idiot.

Overall, I have fallen in love with this place. Only a few holes border houses, and it is the right mix of long, short, hard, and easy to be extremely fun.

I'm a fan....

I'm a huge fan of this course. Good value for the money, and every time I have played it is in great shape.

Its a forgiving course off the tee, but don't let that fool you, as you can get in trouble from fairway bunkers on many holes as well. The greens have lots of contour and are difficult to read, but roll super smooth and true.

The course weaves in and out of houses, but there are still some good views of the mountains in the distance to be had.

As for crowds, I have only played in the afternoon during the week but it was not crowded.

Would definitely recommend this course for the combination of price and condition of the course, which is hard to find in this area.

Nice greens, but fix the fairways...

I have noticed this place going downhill since I started playing here last year. I come out around once a week because it is cheap and you can usually get 18 in after work if you skip around.

The greens have always been well maintained, but the fairways seem to be getting worse. The grass is more like a mixture of weeds on many holes. Many of the holes have given the rough away to dirt, but it is still playable.

I will still play here because it is a decent value and the closest course to work, but could use some TLC.

Good deal for the money. Well maintained.

Course is a little out of the way. No houses surrounding it, which I like. Was in pretty good shape for 30 dollars on a Friday. Greens were a bit on the slow side, but were well countoured and tricky to read at times.

Some of the Par 4's are drivable for the longer hitters and risk/reward for the shorter guys, which I like. A couple tough par 3's and a couple really easy one shotters. Par 5's were standard.

Pace of play was good until a group jumped in front of us on 9, overall about 4.25 hours.

Clubhouse is nothing to write home about at all and neither is the range. Overall, I would recommend this to the average golfer looking for a course in good shape for a good price.

Fun layout for the money.

Played on a Friday afternoon. 20 dollars on golfnow. Enjoyed the course but lots of hackers out.

Staff was friendly.

Greens were in good shape. Fairways could use some tlc. Overall a good value for the price.
