Lake Forest Golf & Practice Center
Played On 08/05/2022Good way to spend 1 1/2 hours
If you are looking for a course with lush green fairways, perfect greens and a challenging layout, this is not it.
If you just want to take a few clubs and practice your short game, this course is perfect. This is a friendly course, from the personnel in the clubhouse to the golfers on the course. Try it, you will like it.
Oakcreek Country Club
Played On 08/06/2019Great day on the course.
This is the first time I have played this course, but It won’t be the last. The course was in great condition.. the tees were nice, fairways good and greens true. We are in Sedona on vacation from S. Calif., and I wish our courses were this good. The staff was great, especially Graig, the starter. He helped a “first timer” a lot.
If you get a chance, play this course.
River View Golf Course
Played On 06/26/2019A fun day of golf
If you are looking for an interesting layout, a lot of fun golfers, and great personnel, this is your course. No, it's not fancy, has some difficult holes, runs along the Santa Ana River bottom, but it is laid back and fun. I will definitely play here again.
Black Gold Golf Club
Played On 07/18/2018Interesting course
If you want a golf course that wanders through canyons, with lots of elevation changes and very few flat lies, this is it. Since this was my first time playing Black Gold, I read the other reviews and knew what to expect. The personnel were great, from the young man in the Pro Shop, the Starter and the Cart Girl. The course conditions were fairly good. The greens were in good shape and ran true. The fairways were o.k., with some areas of dried, out grass. I am giving this course a less than perfect rating because lt was so hard to find a flat lie, even with good drives. Also, the pace of play was very slow. We had to wait on every tee and every second shot for the whole round, and never saw a marshal.
If you want to play Black Gold, make sure your uphill, downhill and sidehill game is good.
Las Vegas National Golf Course
Played On 05/23/2018A classic course
Being from California, it was my first time playing Las Vegas National. I was lucky to be paired with a local, Mike, who is a regular here. He was a great guy and made my round much more enjoyable. The course was in good condition. The fairways were a little dry, but very playable. The greens were very good, with true rolls. I was very impressed with all of the personnel, who treated me, a first timer, as if I was a regular. The course was not crowded, so we got around in a little over 4 hours.
This course is full of Las Vegas history. Some of the tee boxes even have signs that point out some of the homes along the course and the "famous" people who lived there. A visit to the "museum" in the bar is a must. The $1.00 first beer is not bad either.
TPC Scottsdale - The Champions Course
Played On 04/30/2018Challenging course
Like the other TPC courses, the Champions course caters to the golfer. The staff is fantastic, always ready to help you. The course is laid out nicely, and in good shape. The challenging greens were also in great shape and putted true. This course is not as nice as the Stadium course, but enjoyable.
Eagle Glen Golf Club
Played On 10/07/2016Interesting course
First time played. Hugh elevation changes gives wonderful vistas. Staff was fantastic. Course is in typical drought conditions with a lot of dry spots on the fairways. Tees were all forward so did not get a true feel of the course. Back 9 was a lot easier than the front, as it does not have the elevation changes. If you cannot hit a straight drive, bring lots of balls.
We teed off at 12:40 and finished at 6:15. Had to wait on almost every shot.
I would like to try the course again.
San Juan Hills Golf Club
Played On 05/03/2016Pleasantly Suprised
I have always wanted to try San Juan Hills, but the reviews were not complimentary. Through a good deal at Golfnow I gave it a try. Both the gentleman in the golf shop and the starter could not have been more accommodating. I was paired with two nice gentlemen who were about the same skill, so it was a great round. The course was in good condition, considering the drought. The greens had been plugged, but still ran true. We teed off at !:00PM and finished at 5:15.
I will go back.
We appreciate your feedback, and are glad to hear that you had a satisfactory experience. We look forward to seeing your group out at San Juan Hills for your next round!
River View Golf Course
Played On 11/16/2015Interesting course
If you have not played here before, make sure you play with someone who has. Some of the course can be challenging to navigate for a "first timer." I am sure it was tough to design a golf course that has the Santa Ana River running through it, but this is it. The greens were in surprisingly good shape and the fairways were typical "Southern California Drought." We teed off at 12:22 and with no one in front of us we finished at 3:30. One of the fastest rounds I've had in a long time. Now that I know the course, I will return to try to better my score.
Willowick Golf Course
Played On 06/16/2015Fun old course
Willowick is an old style course. The holes are not too hard, but the bunkers guarding the greens make your approach shots interesting. The greens were in pretty good shape, but the fairways had a lot of bare areas. It's a fun outing, bit I would not pay a lot to play it.
Destroyer at Seal Beach Navy Golf Course
Played On 04/30/2015Another nice round
The fairways and greens were in very good condition considering the water problem we have. The round was fairly slow, having to wait for almost every shot on the back nine. But, it was a fun day.
The Vineyard at Escondido
Played On 10/06/2014Nice course
With the lack of rain in So. Cal, the fairways had some dry spots, but the greens were very good. The two nines are different and offer a variety of holes.
Sun Mountain at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort
Played On 09/11/2014A great round of golf
My wife and I were in Las Vegas for a week and I wanted to play a round. I asked a couple of "locals" where a good place to play would be. Without hesitation they both said Paiute. Even though I had to pay the "out of town "rate, it was a good recommendation. The course was in very good condition and the greens putted true. I was paired with three "locals" who guided me on each hole. I will come back next time we are back in LV.
Oso Creek Golf Course
Played On 08/26/2014Fun course
As a first time player, I was pleasantly surprised to see what a fun course this was. It is a good test of my mid to short game. The fairways were in fair condition. With a lot of dry spots but the greens were in very good shape. I will be back.
Lake Forest Golf & Practice Center
Played On 06/22/2014Nice short game practice
This is a great course if you want to practice your short game. The fairways were not in good shape, but the greens were good.
Haymaker
Played On 06/09/2014Very nice course
As a 19 handicapper I was a little concerned about playing Haymaker after reading the reviews. Luckily I got paired with Dave, a member, who has been playing this course for years. His advice saved me many shots during the round. If you can hit a 200 yard drive straight, you probably will do well. The course was in very good condition and I only had a couple of bad lies in the fairway. The greens were in great shape and putted true. The club house staff was very helpful to a first timer. I'm not sure I would pay the regular rate, since I am not a resident, but the Golfnow rate make this round very enjoyable.
I would like to play here again.
Laguna Seca Golf Club
Played On 05/08/2014Watch the wind
The course was in very good condition. There were some thin areas on some of the fairways, but the greens were soft and putted true. This is a typical
RT Jones design where accuracy is prime. On the uphill holes, pull an extra club.
I would like to play this course again.
Pacific Grove Golf Links
Played On 05/06/2014Interesting course
I was up in the area for a few days and wanted to play a round of golf. Based on the reviews I decided to play Pacific Grove. I found the personnal in the pro shop very friendly and accommodating . I was paired with three other golfers of similar skills. The course is an interesting layout, starting with two par threes, then two par fours. As reported, the two nines are completely different.
I was disappointed in the condition of the fairways, as they were dry and hard. The greens were in good condition, and putted true.
Overall, it is a fun layout, and if the fairways ever get more grass, it will be a lot better.
Shorecliffs Golf Club
Played On 12/4/2013A good round of golf
Generally, the course was in good shape. The greens were in the best shape I have seen in a while. But as usual, if you don't hit the ball straight, the course will eat you up. This course is not for the high handicap golfer.
Green River Golf Club
Played On 8/09/2013How well do you play the wind?
Considering all the construction going on around the course, the course played pretty well . There were areas on the fairways that were dry and spots on the greens that were bad, but just move your ball to a different area and you are o.k. It's the afternoon wind that comes down Santa Ana Canyon that makes this course interesting. You will get a chance to practice your downwind, upwind and crosswind shots.
We met a course Marshall named Roy. He was one of the most helpful and friendly people I have ever met on a golf course. We ran into him a number of times as he tried to get the groups ahead to "please speed up."
Note: If you make your reservations through Golfnow, be sure and print not only the reservation number, but also the page that shows the price includes a cart. I didn't print that page and they charged me an extra $5.00 for the cart.
Overall, Green River is a interesting track.
We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Oakcreek Country Club!
