Friendly, accessible course

This is a really friendly, welcoming course, where everyone is trying really hard to improve the golf experience for members and visitors. The course is fairly compact, which makes it both relatively easy for beginners but challenging for more experienced players, as the fairways are quite tight. Each hole has its own attraction and challenges, so you certainly need to be on your toes at all times. It contains a good range of bunkers, ditches and water hazards; enough to be enjoyable but not so many as to discourage you! It is located in beautiful green countryside and the course condition has improved remarkably in the last couple of years. It is a joy to escape to this green haven. There is an excellent driving range and the fantastic short game area will soon be reopening. This is an inclusive course, without airs or graces, where you really do feel extremely welcome. There is an excellent catering service offering tasty, varied and sensibly priced food, and a well stocked, well priced and helpful golf shop.

Excellent condition for December

We enjoyed our round today. Everyone that we met was friendly and helpful, offering advice about buggies and playing conditions. The course itself is set in beautiful Cheshire countryside, wit lovely views over the rolling meadows. Course design is good, presenting enough challenges to make it interesting, but not too daunting for less experienced players, like me. There are a lot of bunkers, in excellent condition and strategically placed so that considerable skill is required to avoid them. A stream and ditch run all through the course, adding extra hazards. I was grateful for the helpfully placed extra large pond scoops, which did mean that I didn't actually lose any balls. The dips and hills add to the enjoyment. The greens were in magnificent condition for December, rolling straight and true. It is probably best to come prepared with a carry bag in winter, as only winter hedgehog tyres are permitted and, even then, many areas are completely roped off for trolleys. Definitely a course worth playing.
