My last review for this course was rough.
They’ve improved significantly. Sand traps were groomed! Hole 1 no longer has a pile of grossness in front of it. They’ve made it into a legit little water hazard. Still not pleased with the grounds within 25 yards of the green. A ton of crabgrass, tough to hit with any touch. Greens are rolling good.
They’ve come a long way.
Fellow golfers:: fix your fairway divots. They give you sand. Use it. Too many hacks out there tearing up the course. Be respectful.

They had a Friday Skins event in the am. I had a 1:23 tee time. They had a 5-some that teed off on one in front of us. 3 hours to play the front 9. 2 and a half to play the back.
Sand traps are filled with rocks....not small pebbles of sand, fist sized rocks.
The service in the restaurant was friendly, but super slow.

The first cut off of the fairway is probably 6" of grass. (There is no cut) -- fairways and greens are good from all of the rain. They have an extreme amount of maintenance on the with the roughs. Players hitting balls that trickle off the fairway into what should be the first cut and the balls are "gone". Totally covered from the overgrown weeds and grass. A lot of other courses in the area that are in far better shape right now.

Played On 04/24/2020A lot of maintenance needed.
Greens were great. Fairways were excellent.
First cut of rough like US Open. About 6”. A lot of lost balls in our foursome that trickled off the fairway. Grass needs cut badly.
Otherwise great day.

I've been playing this course the better part of 18 years. It is in really good shape. Greens rolling well. Staff friendly as always.
California Oaks Golf Course
Played On 11/18/2015Short course, not nearly as nice as Bear Creek and other Murrieta/Temecula courses.
Greens need work, no one here apparently owns a divot tool.
Crowded, you get what you pay for.

For years this course has always been a favorite of mine. The issue I have is pace. This course is historically slow. They overbook, and they need to enforce slow players allowing other groups to play through. There is always a back log here. Other than that, I like the course.
